Hey guys, what's goin on. I was wondering if anyone knew the limitations that the warranty offers before it will be voided.. If I was to get bolt-ons and possibly some other tweaks, would the warranty be voided? :nono:

most places will over look mods the only time it might come in to question is if it makes the job more difficult you could be expected to pay some out of pocket money for said mods, but if the mod caused the failure a lot of times it depends on your relationship w/ your service dept on wheather or not they turn a blind eye or not. some customers can be real dicks and the service advisors usually tell the tech when that happens those people shouldn't expect any favors.

well, if you put a supercharger on your car and the engine blows, warranty wont cover that. But if you have a supercharger and your windows stop going up and down, then fixing the windows would be covered.

its a really fine line and it varys dealer to dealer

Also it is a common misconception that doing something will "void" your warranty. Voided warranty is generally reserved for specific cases such as captured fleet test cars later released for public sale w/o warranty of any kind, or salvaged or lemon bought back vehicles.

Denial of warranty coverage is what you really are concerned with. And the real burden is on GM to prove that a bolt-on was instrumental in or contributed to a failure. Fine print does caution that even Genuine GM Performance Parts, although themselves warranted, offer no protection to the rest of the drivetrain and can be cited as causal in failures-thereby disallowing coverage. Yes, installing a GM CAI or Catback can jeopardize engine warranty as they may increase hp beyond factory spec just the same as if you bought elsewhere - but again it is about burden of proof.

There have been cases of individual dealers refusing to work on vehicles that are modded but that is not the GM corporate line. It may be to your benefit to talk with the service manager ahead of time, making sure everyone is comfortable with your mods planned - or find another dealer.
