It is still in the works. We had a prototype mocked up on the car last week, but did not get a chance to get any good testing due to the weather. We want to test the ram air kit at the track if possible. Hopefully we will be able to get to the track next week. I'll keep you posted as I have any information available.

Awesome! Definitely keep us posted. I'll be buying one as soon as it's available.

With the Roto Fab CAI my G8 has a definite growl now!

Is this addtion to the Roto-Fab CAI coming out soon? :)

If it helps the existing / current CAI or gives the Roto-Fab a "Ram Air" effect, that would be cool. :)

Then I could get this and the HSRK done next time I go to VMS for some mods. :)

The prototype has been mocked up. We have been trying to get to the track to test 1/4 mile times. The track was closed this past Wednesday due to bad weather. Going to try to make it down this Wednesday night. We'll keep you posted on the results!

Will you guys be offering a discount for the first 10 purchases of the complete system again (CAI & RamAir)? If so, I'd like to put my name on the list :)

Hope things turn out good on Wednesday, weather permitting. Any additional info you can give us on the design, look or price? Have you ran it on the dyno with fans?

One of the guys I work with, his friend is the one who bought that place. I'm close to ORP, but might bring my G8 up to Muncie to race sometime this summer.

Is it me or does it look like the drivers side fog light below look like if its removed it would provide cold "ram air" to the bottom portion of the air box? ( when i was putting my Roto fab on it looked like it was in front of where the bottom of the air box was drawing air from....

I took the car to the track and seen a slight 1-2 MPH gain with the prototype kit. The gain was not significant enough to claim that it was a direct result of the ram air system. We will be testing again in the next few weeks.

It's my understanding that even the best-engineered ram air systems have negligible effect until you reach approx 70-80 mph. As little time as you spend past that threshold in the 1/4 mile, it's not surprising that you would not see much (if any) gain.

My statement is based on my knowledge of motorcycle ram air systems that employ sealed airboxes. The airboxes serve as intake air accumulators that, when pressurized by sufficient ram air intake pressure, provide a relatively constant-pressure air supply to the engine. It's not like you are shoving air down the engine (as with a blower or turbo) but rather preventing it from starving at high rpms.

So in my thinking, ram air is appropriate for high-rpm, high-speed running, not particularly useful if the speed isn't high enough and not necessary if the revs aren't high enough to need it.

Not that it hurts anything, either - I just wouldn't expect to see any gains except under high-speed running.

If I've got my facts wrong on this, please let me know.

You are correct, however, I doubt anyone here is expecting to see any kind of "boost" pressure using ram air. The benefits of this system would come more from allowing a colder, denser charge of air to pass into the engine from outside, rather than the intake sucking up engine heat-soaked high temp ambient air from under the hood.

You'd be surprised at how many people I've known over the years that thought just that. I did, too, when I was wet behind the ears and before anyone explained it to me.

That's why I posted. :)

Neither the stock intake system nor the RotoFab CAI are drawing hot air from underneath the hood. Both are sealed against under-hood air.

I see. Then I doubt you'd see too much of a performance increase imo from just adding a more direct path to the airbox.

Just looking under the vehicle, it appears that a small scoop or NACA vent installed in the panel under the Roto-Fab intake would help supply some extra cold air to the system. Is this the kind of thing Roto-Fab is looking at?
Folks talk about cutting a hole down there but I can't seem to find any pics. (Tried search, guess i'm not looking for the correct terminology)

Look at G8Ray posts . We both have pics on this site. Basically if u took the air filter off the Roto-Fab and stuck your hand down the triangle tube, cut a whole in the plastic panel beneath that. That piece almost has lines u can follow. Charlie

I guess the negative air pressure issue hasn't come up yet in this tread. Any additional thoughts on the topic?

No. If something works, it works. I found sometimes it is better ot to over think things in some cases. All intakes are sucking hot air from the fans through the fender side. All intakes benefit from opening the lower panel. Charlie

I found last night also, and I guess the posts got mixed together. The mod does work with ANY air intake.

Roto-Fab now installed on my G8.
No CEL, so time to take for a sort run.
See if I can figure out logging on that Dashhawk.
