: G8Board.com - whats in store?
DevilYellow 05-24-2007, 12:34 PM In about 3 months now we will start to hear of the production of the G8. I was wondering where everyone wants to see in terms of features here.
I have a stack of magazines I need to scan in for a media section along with the current press releases. I dont know how many people even know the media page (http://www.ls1gto.com/media/) on ls1gto.com exists.
I know many people are awaiting the GXP and have not heard to many people mention pre-ordering the GT version. We can do a tracker like we did with the GTO's but I feel like the G8 falls into a different demographic. More as the cool family hauler than the weekend toy.
Anyways, as production ramps up and the cars go on sale we will hopefully see the usage here shoot up and get things rolling.
joholste 05-24-2007, 01:27 PM I don't know what i'm gonna get right now... I'm currently deployed and will be picking one up when i get back. I definitely want the ram air hood. I would like to have a blue one. and i like that leather 2 tone interior.
carsuperfreak 05-24-2007, 01:30 PM The media section sounds really good - there's been a lot of coverage for the G8/Commodore as of late.
Another things that would be cool would be a page with Wallpapers - or maybe at least links to wallpapers, perhaps as an extension to the media section.
Also, a vendor listing area would be fantastic too. An alphabetic listing with web sites/ contact info, as well as what kind of aftermarket parts they offer. Maybe even a way to search for vendors that sell suspension springs, for instance
Mike P 05-24-2007, 02:28 PM I agree, a vendor listing would be great, maybe by performance part types?

We do now. Looks very comprehensive, actually something like I had in mind for elsewhere and never got around to implementing.
Once you have enough vendors on board, give them a section of their own within which only they or an admin can start a thread - serves as a clean announcement area for new products without being slammed by other wannabe vendors or spammers. You may even want to consider a "hidden" section where the vendors can all talk among themselves and with you and other admins and moderators - good place to receive early warning of the few bad egg vendors out there hopping from one forum to the next.
I think the orders will commence once the system is set for ordering. I won't be first in line, wife wants a year of driving a car that's free and clear before buying the next one, so I'll probably be in line for an '09.- Tracking them may be more difficult than domestic production
Cool_Hand_Luke 05-31-2007, 02:07 PM Home page. You can see active polls, media section, forums, etc.
Countdown section ( done in the home page or a banner at the top) for when we can order one.
In the media section a G8 brochure that we can print out. When made available.
DevilYellow 05-31-2007, 03:58 PM I think Pontiac might be doing a pre-order program just like they did with the GTO. Starting around June/July. We'll have to see.
Bonequark 06-01-2007, 09:41 AM DY, if Pontiac really wants to turn a corner with this car and establish a new momentum for their company, you should establish a section on the site devoted soley to "Dealer Experience Purchasing a G8". I realize there are potential pitfalls by even having this section, but rather than read about what jerks the dealers are, this might be a place where Pontiac can monitor the action and step in if they legally can do so.
Dealer relations is one area where every GM Delaership should be stepping up to the plate. Plus, this section can get the good word out for outstanding dealerships as well.
Barrok 06-01-2007, 04:26 PM The G8 will most likely be my first Pontiac. I sure hope the dealership experience is good. I already went to one and they wanted 1500 more for a gxp solstice than the sticker. If they do that on the G8 i sense a used CTS-V with my name on it.
Rob@WretchedMS 06-01-2007, 09:18 PM Vendor listing with ability to search by part type, and zip code distance.
(sounds hard to do though)
This would be very helpful to people looking for tuners and dyno shops.

Separate Braking and Suspension forums.

Replace the FAQ with HOW TO's , and have someone in charge of adding info to it from posts in the forums. No one uses the FAQ on the GTO board mostly due to not knowing it's a how to area.

I'm sure I can come up with a ton of idea's but i'll shut up for now, I don't want my idea's to become problems.
Rob@WretchedMS 06-01-2007, 09:22 PM ok, one last idea.
make a new forum,
How To's and instead of having that be an actual forum, use the vb software to link to the FAQ, so when people click on the how to forum, they go to the FAQ.
I'm a bit tired, so if i'm rambling i'm sorry....
DevilYellow 06-02-2007, 12:19 AM The GTO board uses the FAQ's. Now they were mostly all the old 04 notes and specs - but all the production numbers are stored in there. The GTO site has the knowledge base which is something that we might do here.
I'llBeHoldenOn 06-03-2007, 02:58 PM Maybe a slightly OT question, but is this the largest dedicated G8 forum on the interwebs?
Playdough 06-03-2007, 03:35 PM I know that we are planning on ordering a G8 very soon after we can. But we are wanting a M6, so we are going to have to wait until the M6 version is available for order, so we'll see what happenes for 08.
DevilYellow 06-03-2007, 10:59 PM Maybe a slightly OT question, but is this the largest dedicated G8 forum on the interwebs?
So far .............yes. I believe I was the only admin acctually AT the G8 unveiling as well (as far as other G8 owners are considered).

Very cool. Do you work in the auto industry?
Bonequark 06-04-2007, 10:30 AM DY is Omnicient, Clairvoyant and Obsequious. Other than that, though, he's just a reg'lar guy (although some claim he and Cmntmxer are the same person.....(....ducks.....).......
