I have the hood protector for the G8 installed on my White Hot. I'm not sure if I like it, but I know that there were others interested in how it looks.

If it came clear and you could back paint it MAYBE... Not doing it for me. I have one on my P/U and don't like it on that either but I back painted it white to match the body color. Mine goes under the hood. Looks like that one mounts on top! Weird!

There is a clear one available for another $150 I believe. Smoke works for me just fine at that price :)

That doesn't look too bad. If you can get it sprayed black to match the grills I think it would work a bit better visually. These cars are so new, nobody really has pre-concieved notion of how they should look. Hell, some people might think it came from the factory that way.
From personal experience, I think the hood protector works best with black. It's not as noticable, and it blends into the contours a bit better. I was pleasantly surprised actually.
Still, I just might have mine sprayed to color match. We'll see. If it's more than $75 to do, I just might say forget about it and call it a day.
If you decide to take it off, have you given much thought as to how to remove the 3M anti-brasive pads without damaging the paint? I was just wondering this myself today. I'm not sure if Goo Gone will get them off.

I haven't. My car had a ton of wax on it when I put it on and I didn't use the alcohol wipes. Not to mention my fingerprints deadened most of the stickiness. I'm probably going to take it off this weekend. If the pads stick then I'll probably just leave it on.
I was hoping that it would look a little better, however now I'm not sure how it could. I really dislike the thick gap between the hood and the grill which was a big reason for the purchase too.
I have been taking some ***** at work about it too. Taking it off means I'll have caved. The President of the company I work for looked at it and said, "hey, I think I'll get one for my 911" (sarcastic of course).
I can't do visualization at all. I'll probably never buy any aftermarket rims unless I see something I like on a G8. Even then, I'd have to see it on a white hot to make sure. I dig those grey 20" Breyton in the wheels thread, but they probably would look ridiculous on white.

A piece of cake to remove. It only took about two minutes by backing out two screws. The pads are still sticky but cam off without a hitch. Since it is so easy to add and remove, I will probably keep it off around town and put it on for long highway rides.

Here are some pics of the hood protector on my G8. It could look alot worse. I kinda like it, but to each their own.

You can't even tell that it is there. It looks way better on yours.
Anyone with PBM want to buy mine? :)
