Putting gas in the car, I noticed that the fuel filler neck moves around a little. Anyone else?
Is this normal or does it need attention?

Same problem on my car, dealer said its normal but I don't buy that as a G8 I checked on his lot did not have the problem.

Good idea. FYI I don't have this problem. It may move like 1/32nd if you push on it, but nothing I'd call loose.

I'd complain till they fixed it :) and it's always good to "prove the problem" and compare similar cars.

I was suprised how much it moves around. I know there should be a little movement but this seems to be excessive.

I have the some issue. I am also afraid to let go of the pump handle as it seems like it is going to fall out. In my old truck the handle used to stay up, but in this car it almost rests on the car. I also kind of freaked out when I did not see the flap that usually covers the filler hole until I talked to the dealer and they told me that there is a check valve further down the filler neck.

Mine moves quite a bit as well. It seems the rubber grommet on the filler neck is undersized for the actual hole in the body, allowing the movement. At first I didn't think it had a problem, but I pressed on it a couple of times and it indeed was loose. I would be surprised if they are not all like this, with some of the grommets being a bit tighter than others.

Mine moves too. From the way it looks with all these responses, it appears normal? Has anyone taken the car back to the dealer to have them look at it?

Just like Oregon. I had driven through Oregon many times, however when I had my Toyota Tundra we stopped for gas late at night. This guy came running out of the gas station at mach speed, and scared the hell out of us. We thought the pump was going to explode. He grabbed his prized fuel nozzle from our grubby hands, gave it a kiss, and then proceeded to fill up the tank. The guy said we could have blown up the whole state! lol

Check my earlier post.

I pointed this problem out to my Pontiac dealer and was told the loose fuel filler neck is normal. Dealer stated it’s a rubber grommet that is intentionally undersized. But what would be the point of under sizing it? I walked over to a white GB GT on his lot flipped open the fuel door and checked the fuel filler, it was NOT loose. I have had my car a month and I can move mine roughly 3/8" in any direction. There is something not right about that. Why the difference between the G8 GT on his lot, and my car? Don’t start with that – The dealers car is newer, my G8 is a month old with low miles. I would like a good look at the area where the fuel filler neck meets the car body.

It's simple. Just ask to speak with the GM (General Manager). Explain the situation in a smooth calming voice. Tell him/her that you know your filler neck is not correct, you've asked other owners and even felt the neck of the cars on his lot and they are not like that. Just remain calm and they should fix the problem. Most likely the GM will be busy and send another drone to talk to you.

It's the chain of command baby, if you can't solve my problem, let me talk to your boss or someone that can!
