I wouldn't get too excited, the 08 Malibu is due out this fall and there is the same lack of info on it as well.

No e-mail yet from the Pontiac site. About all we have is a PDF file of some fleet information on the G8. Eventually, this link http://eogld.ecomm.gm.com/ will have all the info we will need.

July-ish there should be some pre-production news.

Production around September.

Don't expect cars until after Thanksgiving (guessing on this one)

I almost got a Charger.. I was getting desperate. I have a second child born in March, and I'll have to have an infant and a 3 year old in the back of the Goat. I NEED 4 DOORS! I'm trying to hold out till the G8 gets here, in the end it would have killed me to be driving around in a charger and seeing G8's running around. I've decided to hold out, but it isn't easy. I'm hoping for info sooner than later as well.

Same situation here. I think I'll probably keep my RX7 and end up getting an 08 Malibu. :(

I decided to suffer until the G8 gets here. Hopefully the kids to pick up too many 4 letter words as I'm strapping them in every day :)

LOL! My son just moved up to a booster. I thought it was supposed to be easier to get it buckled in.

It's either sell the RX7 to get the G8 or keep it and get a Malibu. Got the RX7 out of winter hibernation and can't seem to get myself to sell it.

What IS frustrating is that we know what the G8 wil loook like and yet not a peep on DealerWorld. However the 2008 Saab 9.3 all new redesign has ALL of their 2008 info online EXCEPT pics (car gets introduced officially in June or July) WHy can't we have RPO codes, pulease??????

Do you have access to dealerworld? Seen anything on pricing on the 08 Malibu?

I can only access the portion without pricing. I am still assuming that GM "knows" we can sneak in and peek, despite the warnings and legalese that it is only for dealer use. It's their way of "leaking" official information so that we don't post erroneous information. :boink:

This morning the Pontiac portion returns an error, which usually means the site is being updated. In fact all sections are down except Chevy and Chevy Truck.

Nope, all they did was add a ZOK version to the Solstice GXP, so now there are two versions for clubsport racing.

GM PR sucks!

Mike P

Except for Transformers. But if they were smart they would have had the new Camaro with both a V6 option & LS3 option ready to go with the release of the movie. Again they suck.

What Transformer could the G8 be?

Some people want to know more about the car and are dying for more: That's good.

More people are frustrated by not being able to see one, view options/pricing, combined with dealer ignorance is already losing Pontiac auto sales. The dealers don't know squat so prospective buyers go down the street and buy something else.
Duh! that's bad.
Someone at GM with at least some basic business sense-> :slap: <-PR & advertising idiots

GM needs to give a PR job to me. Press releases, press releases, press releases, E-Mails (Remember the addresses that were solicited?) Traveling test drives, Heck, car magazine test drives of production models should have been on the stands by now. Nearly a cost free campaign here. The quarterly Pontiac magazine only had a tiny 2 page spread on the Pontiac Flagship with no important info discussed.

I hope someone from GM is visiting this forum. Read these comments posted by the members and make something happen.

I hope GM big shots have nightmares of G8s sitting on the lots Transforming into Toyotas, Hondas, and Chryslers. That is what is going to happen with their current marketing strategy.

People are going to buy something else because of the lack of business leadership.

All good points. I went to the Pontiac.com G8 page and entered my email address. I never got a single email. I also have a GM card and I get little surveys here and there, I always ask for info on the new CTS, G8 and Camaro. Do you think I ever got any information on any of these products? Nope!

GM spends a billion dollars per year on marketing. I think they're spending a billion the wrong way.

I read in the latest review of the 2008 Corvette that the T-56 has been updated to ship more smoothly. My guess is the Corvette is getting it's full allotment before the G8 does. Also, the CTS is going to market in a few months and is also RWD. Once again, that is going to get it's fair share of trannies first.

Just my totally un-educated guess.

G8 is going to use the new Tremec TR6060 which is in the new Viper, Cobra and Vette, this shouldn't be a hold up unless there are demand/supply issues.

GM spends ad money where they expect to reap the most gain; trucks, SUV's, and fully-optioned cruisers. How many Silverado commercials have you seen today? I don't expect them to make much off the Aussie-built G8 so expect a repeat of GTOs marketing.

The company runs like a governnent agency; "I'm gonna treat you like the government and give you what I think you need." E-mail costs nothing but gets a buzz going just the same as or better than an ad.

Yeah, I got the 2007 model line up book too. Thanks Pontiac for mailing me last year's models. July/Aug is the start of the new model year for companies. Makes me want to get some of my old magazines from the garage and mail them to Pontiac.

Save the postage of sending it FedEx too. FedEx is usually late of their promised delivery time anyhow.

I ordered my '04 GTO in July '03 and I had been getting e-mail news from Pontiac prior to that. I took delivery of the GTO in January '04. If the G8 will really be here by January shouldn't we be hearing from Pontiac by now? Since signing up for the e-mail updates I have been receiving non-G8 related stuff from GM.

But the basic vehicle of your GTO was in about its 6th year of production when you took delivery, and there were zero mechanical differences from the Monaro, IIRC, only cosmetic, until the upgraded engine. The G8 comes with an engine that, until now, has not been sold to the public that I can pinpoint (6.0 with AFM) And we know that the pre-production units only started rollling on the 4th of this month (see another thread).

As far as magazines doing tests on production moodels, it does not work that way. Due to lead times of up to 3 months in many cases, even placing a July pre-pro in teh hands of teh media will not see print until possibly the November issue, on sale in early October. That's if you want a full test and not just a half-page on the test mules that ran around Wisconsin. (maybe we'll see that article in Aug or Sep)

The GTO goes hand in hand with the VZ revision of the Monaro. The major part of the redesign was the fuel tank. The exhaust was a new item. Then in 05 brakes and a few driveline parts started to share bins with HSV prepped vehicles.

Not only that but the first Monaro was made in 2001. And the GTO was the 4th year of production and in the second 'mid production update'.

Not only that but the GTO was the first LHD coupe to use a manual transmission. There is also the matter of the GTO being fairly stripped down model.

The GTO production began with many quality control checks and working out alot of kinks in the export/import process. Plus clutch problems, rear subframe bushings, and warped fascias were all being resolved while the cars sat at docks and were being transported. The first batch of GTO's sat in California for quite some time - I want to say a few months.

I think you might of missed the underlying message that the G8 should of already been in production. Expedite the shipping of magazine cars for testing ahead of the waiting for a boat load, travel, unloading, quarantine, and distribution.

I Think most people know there is a couple month lead time for magazines, but it is not a rule. Desk-top publishing has cut lead time dramatically and "Hot Stories" can make print up to the time the press rolls.
