I bet that's the M6 that I saw on the dealer locator. When I called the dealer they said it was already sold, and there had been a bit of a bidding war for it in the showroom. That dealer also told me that they had recently either upgraded or built a new building & had been given notice that GM would not be renewing their contract.

Hey congrats! How did you make out with the duty? Did you have to pay the 6.11%?

You know, she never even mentioned it and all I had to pay there was the GST (PST will be paid to the MTO when I license it). I'm not sure if they're just all not sure what the rule really is 'cause 1 person will say you gotta pay and the other ... well, maybe she just thought it was made in the USA? Regardless I saved some good coin and got a fabulous car sitting in the garage.

So, what would you like to know about the few units that snuck into Canada?

I've been in a few of them.


They came here as official "built for Canadian Market" GXP's that were sent to engineering for testing and evaluations. Pricing hadn't even been established yet by the brand teams at this point. When the brand dissolved and shipments stopped, there was serious concern as to what would happen with these few that had arrived. From my understanding, the engineers working on the cars asked the brand team specifically to establish a price for them, so that they could buy them themselves.

That's kinda what I was looking for. Cool!

I had located 3 of them last spring or summer & had the VINs for all 3 that were on dealer lots. Only one of the 3 had a manual transmission, which was a must for me. I called that dealer, which was in Montreal, but he had already sold it. I was forced to import mine.

I wish I would have kept my list from the dealer locate. It would be cool to see the sequence in which they were built compared to the U.S. ones, as there has been some debate over that.

Looks like I might not get the extended warranty. I am not going to get anywhere near on the KM's. So I would just be getting it for the extra time. Not fully sure if it is worth it just for that? What do you think?

I purchased the max amount of time (good till 2015) & 100,000km...I doubt I'll hit 100,000 but for the little extra it cost to get from 80 to 100 I figured it was worth it.
I still recommend getting the extra time even if you don't buy extra KMs. I'm kinda paranoid as a result of working in this industry.

You could tell her that she won't enjoy driving it because it doesn't have hill assist, but that you will assist her by making sure that you're always the one in the driver seat. :wink2:

Tell her you have to act fast as there are very few used GXP's left for sale. If you miss out you will have to buy the Firehawk for substantially more money. The dollar is dropping, going to cost more if you wait!
Mention to her she can talk to my wife. Tam loves the car. But then again which one of us that owns a G8 doesn't!!:driving:

Here is the one in Saskatoon I got it from the dealership out of Lethbridge price worked out the same as if I imported it my self plus they gave me a descent price for my trade. He brought it in from Detroit, from what I understand one the corporate guys had it. Wanted Black on Black and no red inset M6 could not find one. So I bought the A6, I must say that I am very happy with the performance of the A6.

Anyone on here own the GXP at Highland Chev in Aurora ont? I was told its a techs there an has LTHs, Exhaust an lowered. Just wondering if its a member on here.

I also met a GXP owner last week Jim D from Toronto, Owns a BPM with V6 tails an GT front bumper. The car confused me so i asked him why the GT front bumper he said his son owners a V6 G8 an did the bumper swap. I said you crazy lol he laughed an said no he dont mind kinda wants people to think its a GT he said he will be adding the TVS2300 to it, He owners a blue ZR1 as well an a few other nice rides. The V6 tails he said the swap was his idea cuz he likes the look of them better. I gave him the info for our local G8 club as well as this forum an the "other" one..

It appears that most of you are getting about 25 mpg on the highway...not bad.

^Looks like the G8 should be subject to a $1000 hit (based on 13.5 average).

@courtroom19 Sell me your GXP. How much did it cost you to import when all said and done? I'm just starting my research on pulling a used one from across the border.

Gents....just took the car out a few weekends back to a private airfield. Holy F#$ this car is sick. Got it up to 230km/h on the mile straight-away, handled amazingly well on the corners...jeeezzzusss. Kept up with the 911s, but was left in the dust by the vipers ;)

Ya, you'll be right. I just found out that even the Canadian spec GTs only read to 180.

Definitely more than 12. There are already 11 posted on this thread, and only one of those was sold new in Canada of the rhumored 6.

Had 7000 kms then, now its got 30,000kms

We now have a total of 13 registered here, plus there are still at least 5 of the rumored 6 sold in Canada that are unaccounted for.

I figured that I would post another GXP in Canada that I know of. My buddy Wayne Kennedy in St Catherine's Ontario bought a PBM A6 Onyx Sunroof GXP out of Georgia, and took it north of the border. I took him for a ride in my GXP in August 2009 at Norwalk, and turned him into a GXP Junkie, he just had to have one of his own. He is not on the boards, but I see him at Pontiac events here south of the border. The car is quick. We ran heads-up last year at Norwalk, cutting identical reaction times, and he beat me across the line (he was completely stock, I only had BMR rear suspension parts).

Yep, I have 14 listed in my Registry spreadsheet (including BOTH of TryMe's GXPs), which does not include D500GTP. If he would be willing to share the last 4 of his VIN thru PM, I can keep it completely confidential, as I am with a handful of other GXP owners. If anyone can track down any of the others it would be great. I am starting to ask G8 GT and G8 Base owners to get VINs and locations off of GXPs that they spot. I even stumbled across one here in Madison. I left my card, but have heard nothing from them. At least I verified the car, and know it's registered here in WI.

I bought my Liquid Red, no roof, 6 speed from TryMe in Winnipeg last month when he found another with only 400 miles (wow) Mine was originally out of Olathe Kansas, and was owned by Rbolyard for a few thousand miles. It's got 22800K (13900?miles) It's got a Rotofab and a tune so far.
