MY steering wheel is starting to get dirty from usage. I've always had an issue keeping them clean. What's the best way to clean the steering wheel and return it to when it looked new?

I would start with what they recommend in the manual for cleaning the leather seats.

They say use a damp cloth, and if you need to get something out use a mild mixture of soap and water.

I'm anti-Armor-All so I don't recommend those products (Once you start using them, you HAVE to keep using them.)

I got a product at home that gives a really really nice deep wet look. I put it on steerin wheel about 1 week ago and it still shines so nice. Everythin in the interior was dull lookin, now everything looks deep black. I am at work and forget name of it, but its bright green bottle and like "xxxx 2000" or some numbers. Great product. I dont put it on my seats though cause I dont want them gettin slippery. I use Lexol on the seats for a nice glass but doesnt make them slippery and funky. Worst thing is to not put anything on your dash or seats becaus eeventually, they will start crackin from sun and extreme heat.

The best way to keep your steering wheel clean is to wash your hands. If it is dirty a damp cloth should take care of all but the worst stuff.

if thats the product Im thinking of then all you're going to get is a nice film of yellow gunk in your windshield due to the evaporation of all the s4%t oils in that stuff.... might be wrong on that but most of those products will all get this result. IMHPO those kind of dressing just take away from the newness of a car.

last post was spot on.... wash your hands mate.!! If any of your interior gets dirty then just use a soft damp microfiber with a safe leather loosener which will soften the materials up as well as clean. I use an Aussie line of leather products which are all natural with Eucalyptus and other natural earth oils. Its called Oakwood.

The shine deal is so not in any more. I have never liked the deep wet whatever shine inside my car. It looks cheap and cheesy and takes away from the car being new. You are better off just wiping down with a Chamois after you wash. I just had a client come to me the other day. His car had to go tot he dealer and they gave hime a courtesy wash and detail.... The soaked the interior in a so called "GOOD" dressing!!! He hated it and I spent an hour or so taking it off and putting my soft flat protectant back on.

For major interior cleaning the only way to really get grime and dirt out that has caked in, is Steam Cleaning.!! This will loosen any junk but not affect the surface integrity llike over rubbing does!

You can buy a Kettle steamer from Sears for like $60.

Dont grip the steering wheel too hard mate:)

my wheel has never gotten dirty. its called formula 2001 from turtle wax. stuff works amazing on plastics and rubber. and no, it does leave a yellow film or anything like that. stuff looks very good on the interior. really makes all the dull black shine and look good. some people like their interior to look dull. i like mine to look glossy without being greasy and blinding me in the sun. this stuff works very very well.
