I used the red rubylith, litho tape and here is the result.
Much better! No more seared retinas at night!

The litho tape is semi-transparent and deep ruby in color. I put the tape over the Passenger Airbag light, and it's now about 50x dimmer, but as you can see, you can still see it.

You might be able to find it in an office supply store. If not, an art supply store would probably have it.

get the canada mirror, it doesn't have the "Passenger Air Bag" text, just the small indicator light, as far as i know, the wiring and onstar stuff should all be the same?

How about taking a black marker and blackening it out a bit? That would be both cheap and easy.
