I dont know if i just havent noticed it or what but today what i started the car it had a nice ticking sound coming from the motor. Not sure if that has always been there but you can hear it from the outside. I looked under the hood and it is coming directly from the motor. Just wanted to see if you guys are hearing the same thing.

thanks

Same as my GTO. You just didn't hear it so much because the exhaust was so much louder.

So should i not worry about this?

Ticking can be the injectors, and sometimes part of the valve train. I have not had a car in the last 12 years that has not had some sort of a tick coming from it. My G8 has a very slight tick, but it's nothing to worry about IMO. If it's very loud and mechanical sounding, it could be a problem. However that can't be determined without sound clips.

I've got the same thing for about the first 1-2 minutes from a dead cold start (first thing in the morning only). I'm thinking it's either piston slap, or the lifters pumping up (but it lasts a little long for it to be the lifters)

Thanks guys. Ya it only does it on a cold start. When its at normal operating temp its hardly noticeable.

i haven't noticed any ticking other than the fuel injectors giving off a slight noise. btw, in my experience piston slap sounds more like an outright rattle vs ticking...and typically doesn't last more than 5 seconds after startup.
