So I saw this on AutoTrader.com. A Liquid Red, M6, sunroof'd, GXP.

Thinking first that it was really a GT dressed to be a GXP, or simply an error in posting, I ran the VIN#.

Sadly, it came back as both in an accident a year ago in Stone Mountain, GA. But then later, reported as flood damaged.

1) Was this car anyone's here?
2) Is there anyone near Columbia, KY that can go check it out and determine the extent of damages?

Naturally I'm weary when I see this, but from knowing CarFax, they can list a scratch as "severe" damage too. Being that body parts are expensive, I'm wondering if something as simple as a fender racked up a large bill pushing it into "Severe" category by their standards. I'd also like to know the extent of the supposed flood damage. Unfortunately CF doesn't give any other details to get a sense for the level of damage. For that price, is a simple fender damage and maybe it being splashed through a large puddle, worth it? Or did the car go for a swim? :D

This car was owned by blake09gxp and was totalled out after having standing water up to the console and mold and other issues. I don't know if this car would be worth it if you are looking for a reliable longterm street car. Flood cars seem to have neverending electrical problems afterwards. In my opinion, it would make a good true racecar build, but that's about it. There are enough other GXPs out there that I would steer clear of this one, and get something more predictable.

Oh, that is my fear, electrical issues with a flood car. Trust me, I worked at a Chevy dealer in service working on these things (well, regular Chevy's, not G8's), when they came in.

I guess my issue was, I wanted to know the level of accident and flooding, as carfax can't be relied on to give an accurate detail level.

I would want the car as a DD and run it into the ground. The pure attraction is the price as the only reason I don't have a GXP yet is that I can't afford $36k - $40k. $24k I can!

I called the guy and asked why the price is so low, he was very honest about the flood damage. He said "A creek in a ladies yard got up behind the car and flooded some of the interior out".

Depending on what was done to the car it might be a alright deal, just know that I doubt GM will warranty any work on the car and it will eventually need lots of work. I am surprised it just was not parted out unless the insurance price on it was really high for some reason.

I didnt think it had been wrecked though, but I think Blake could tell us for sure.

This would be a great deal if you are 100% positive you will never sell the thing. the flood history will kill the resell value.

I think it already has - it is $10,000-$15,000 off the other 4 M6 GXPs I see listed online.

BTW the thread talking about the original owners story is here: http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23960 .

Dang, that stinks...if I was going to pull the trigger I'd want an even better price. I mean, no GM warranty, no resale value, possible electrical demons hidden away, I'm sorry even 23K is too much.

Most banks won't finance a flood damaged car anyways.

Yea, Blake explained it in two other threads. The accident damage was just some dumb female backing into him in a Daewoo leaving a few scratches. :D

Otherwise, the car IS cherry, sans flood damage.

GM has voided the warranty on it.

Hey guys I live in Columbia Ky. and briefly looked at this G8 a couple of weeks ago. The car looked good was not sure what the deal was. The place was closed so I have never talked with anyone about the car. I was kinda leary and I didn't know the price. To bad about the flood damage I won't touch it I will keep my 5500 mile GT. You know the saying if it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

Based on what I see on AutoTrader, I'd say you're right where you should be, maybe a slight bit on the low side.

Most up to about 8 - 10k seem to hover in the $36k - $39k arena, then 10 - 15k cars in that $34k - $36k window, so I think you're reasonable. I think there have been one or two with 30k'ish on the clock slipping under or near to the $30k mark.
