I live in Southern California and I have NOT seen one G8 or G8 GT on the roads out here.... Where are all you California G8's hiding out??? Also I am a little worried that this car will not take off. Sure hope it does:driving:.

There is only one other car running around here. I took a trip (about 100 miles each way) and didn't see one either way.

There is another post that this car has sold faster than any other car (er.. except for the prius :( )

I think we'll be just fine. I have a feeling that once the the car nuts (like us) get one, they will start rolling out commercials. They don't have many on dealer lots yet. I think most people aren't like us. They aren't on forums talking about a car 1 year before it is out. They'll go to a lot, and see the car there - take it for a drive and buy it.

For now, it's fun having a 30K exotic - well at least until there are more we are kind of an exotic, rare at least.

Did one of the "suspect" vehicle searches on the official Pontiac site for the Puget Sound area, and came up with less than 50, of either V6 or V8, available from Portland to the Canadian border. There have been some sold in this area, no doubt about it, but you just don't see them. Personally, I'm holding out for an '09 Sport Red Metallic GT, that I hope will be tagged/ordered the end of this week for June/July delivery. The dealer I am working with is getting his first G8's soon, a couple of V6s. From what I see of who got them in this area, the dealers either have to be big volume, or meet the criteria of Pontiac/Buick/GMC dealers to have received any G8s yet. I think the focus has been to the "smile states", as Mr. Lutz so named them early on, and the quantity of G8s to those areas has shown that. A lot more G8s have shown up at dealers in the southern half of the country, and have slowly bled out to the northern part, mostly to the larger cities of the north. This strategy is promoted with the "summer only" 19" performance tires of the sport package, leaving those of us in the less temperate climates to fend for ourselves for competent tires to handle our weather. In essence, this strategy adds a premium of $1-$1.5K to the cost of a GT with sport package for those of us in the northern areas due to the need to add competent tires. Not complaining, just stating a fact. :dunno::sneaky:

They brought in over 4000 for '08. The first 888 produced had special VIN and badging on the dash. '09s are supposedly available for tagging/ordering this week for delivery in late June, early July. The full year run was originally predicted to be in the range of 10-15K, but first year was less due to short production run in Australia and their model turnover. '09s will supposedly be available in greater quantities, at a larger number of dealers throughout most of the country. If the new CAFE regs don't kill this car, it will probably take into the second full year to see availability be such that they will be common on dealer lots. Keep your eyes open, you'll see more in the coming months!:)

Honestly with CAFE I wouldn't be surprised to see this car go away after a couple more model years. Anyone else get the feeling it's 1972 all over again and all our hilarious muscle fun cars are going to get swept under the rug?

I would love to see production numbers on the G8s -- I know there are at least 2953, that's what number mine is. :p

Since buying my G8 GT two months ago (in Arlington, TX), I have yet to see another G8 on the road. I've seen several GTOs, though.

There is only 1 other one around me that I have seen.
As far as production, according to the sales figures, there were 777 sold in March and 2612 (I think) in April, so there is at least 3389 running around out there somewhere.
I know that there were over 4000 available when they first started shipping to dealers. I have heard anywhere from 4000-18k units for the 2008 model year, though I have yet to get confirmation from any source.
