Just wondering if anyone tried going with K&N.

They only have a oil filter and drop in air filter for the G8. I'm waiting for the FIPK.

i talked with a K&N rep. he told me that they are about 3-4 months out from finishing their intake. one of K&N imployees owns a g8 so they are using his but they still need about 2 more cars to test on before going up for sale. They want to make sure that their is no big difference in performance over the first few cars compared to the later 08 and 09's. They did way that they saw huge inprovements over the stock system in mpg and in performance..

I'll let them test it on my car if I get a free intake! :)

I wouldn't hold your breath on the K&N. Don't think they will ever produce one. I'd look at the Roto Fab.

K&N is not Gold.

They fxxked up the intake on the RX8 It looses power.

They had to release another version 2 years later and it is nowear near as good as its competition.

Well, it's been about 10 months, and still no K&N FIPK?

I can not see any company spending anything more on R&D for any products for the G8 due to the end of production of the car.

I am sure that folks like Corsa and any other manufacturers with products on the market now are crying because they will probably not even recoup their development costs due to the low amount of vehicles produced with no more to come.

I'm surprised no one has tried using the universal K&N Apollo kit. Comes in red, black, blue, chrome & silver, possible other colors as well:

Cleaning the K&N or any other resuable filters is a major pain.

Not really. Plus you spend less money and cause less environmental waste.

Already done it once. Almost thrown it away instead. The only reason that stopped me was that maybe, maybe it helps a little at autocross. For a purely street car I would not bother. Keep in mind that you can't drive the car for at least a day while you wash and dry the filter And the stories about 100Kmi between cleanngs are very optimistic. It fills with dirt after just 25Kmi. I wouldn't say that it's less money either. Well, I've got that filter free with the car, so it sort of was. But I still had to buy the cleaner and the oil. And with the amount of labor involved in cleaning, I could buy piles of disposable filters.

Wouldn't a K&N fipk be very similar to what is already offered by rotofab?

I would be interested in K&N if they supported the V6

I took my MSM M6 GXP out to K&N a couple of months ago for prototype fitting... essentially they were just making sure it was the same fit as the GT (which it is). I just got word back that their kit for our cars will be ready in the next week or so...

myself i think K&N is a bit late getting in the game of making a CAI for the G8 ,,,there would need to be a diff between theres and a rotofab and i just dont think there will be one...and from my experience i tryed with K&N im not a fan of the oiled filters....

hey guys, K&N used my car for their 2nd test vehicle...I dont have numbers...apparently some freaking ricer leaked numbers and everyone was pissed cause they wernt seeing the same results!

Anyways, they were anticipating around the end of June for the release. I was going to wait until after the Holiday weekend to check back in with them. They were saying about the same gains as most of the others. It looked like a nice intake when I saw it!

But are the rotofab filters oiled and resuable like the K&N filters?
