Wow....pretty good results.

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/06/21/sub-35k-pontiac-g8-gt-wins-over-autoblog-readers/

Tuesday's post on the rumored sub-$35K price for the upcoming Pontiac G8 GT drew plenty of interest from readers, and if our completely unscientific poll is any indication, should the car come in at or below that price, Pontiac will have your attention. After tallying up 2,500+ votes, 63% of you said that yes, the checkbook would be broken out if that number is the real deal. And from the looks of things, a G8 GT for $35,000 is going to happen, as Pontiac's reps told us that the V8-powered car's pricing will indeed start "well under" that sum. Good news for those of you who've been waiting for a proper RWD American power sedan. It's been a while, but you'll get your wish, and parking one outside your house shouldn't break the bank (as long as the dealers don't go into full gank mode upon release, which is always a possibility).

I gave them my "I'm in" vote.

I wonder how many they plan to sell a year? I thought a saw a projection of 30k units.

GM has to offer this car below 35k if they want it to be a success. Pontiac isn't in BMW territory yet.

Agreed, I think GM needs to get the GT in at 29.9K in order to push the V8. Worry about upping the price and features 2nd gen G8. For the sake of getting quality/price/power they need to lower the price 1st gen to get the name out.

A baseline V6 model 'interests' me but makes me feel like 1/2 a man for considering one. I've been driving a (lol, yes its ok to lol with me) 97 Civic for 10 years and while I want the 6MT, I'm not sure it'll fall into my price range.

I think 30k is a pipedream from a consumer standpoint, but I won't rule it out because it would make sense in many ways.

*crosses fingers.

You can get a Loaded Maxima with everything except Navigation and be in the 33K range. That is going to be one of the G8's market competition so I think it will be within that range.

Market it at around, slightly below that number and preach about same MPG (26-28 highway) and 0-60 a second quicker.

I think the Infinity G35 will be it's biggest competitor.:pimp:

I think in two years a rwd G6 with the 3.6 DI V6 in the GXP version will be competition for the G37 Coupe.

I agree. The Maxima is FWD, CVT, whereas the G35 is RWD and can be had with a manual transmission.

I currently drive a 20th Anniversary Maxima ... I am definitely considering the G8 as a replacement! I think I'll wait a few years once the G8 is released for Pontiac to work out some of the kinks though.

Keep in mind that this car had the kinks mostly worked out since Holden is in it's second year of production. I don't suspect you'll have many issues with the first year run of the G8 GT.

It's a hit or miss.
I have to wait 2 months until the dealership here can replace the squeaky motor mounts on my car.

I also agree with this since infiniti is only a entry level luxury sports sedan. It really isn't that far fetched.

Aren't the Maxima and G35 pretty much one in the same car?

Anyway, the funny thing about these polls is, all the people that said they'd break out their checkbook never actually show up when the car actually hits showrooms. So I don't typically take their opinions to highly!
