Monaro@JHP 05-10-2010, 10:46 PM Any idea if this will fit with a Magnacharger 2300?
there is a good chance it will fit because it has an extended neck which you cut when you put maf sensor in. That should give you more than enough extension to reach throttle body on the supercharger.
kbuckert 05-11-2010, 01:03 AM You can put me on the list!!!
madhunter 05-11-2010, 10:44 PM Did the intro special ever happen?
ClassicPhysique 05-12-2010, 12:22 AM interested
BigElm 05-12-2010, 02:38 PM Ok.... What am I missing? Is this any different than the Vararam and the infamous VCM OTR?
Or is this just another competitive option?

The impression I got is that this is made by VCM just looks a little different then the first 3 "off the line"... Still looks pretty good! Does it use the same K&N filter???
available off the shelf?

LiquidMetal09Gt 05-12-2010, 04:11 PM If this would have came out two months ago i would have been in. still am interested if i can find a buyer for my rotofab
HSV GTS 05-13-2010, 10:37 PM JHP have 2 types of OTRs for the G8 / VE Ram Jet or VCM.... Heres the details for the VCM OTR intakes.
JHP have been working with VCM to help the G8 forum guys with a price and delivery for the VCM OTR intake. As of now JHP have a list of interested G8board members and will be working thru a supply date for delivery of the OTR. There will be limited supply for the next 1-2 weeks (full supply 3-5 weeks) until we have full stock.
JHP are the USA distributor for the VCM OTR and have been working on freight saving to get this intake at the best price to the main 48 states.
So for those that are interested in this great quality product please add your name to the list by email or place an on-line order (see below).
JHP and VCM are working on a 3-4 week supply, but as we receive full stock most customers will receive the intake within 7-14 days
The price for the VCM OTR intake kit delivered to the USA is $462. Please list G8Board JHP VCM OTR special because this item is not listed as yet on the JHP / G8 parts direct web site.
If you would like to place an order: Dont forget to list G8Board JHP VCM OTR special

HunterSwift 06-07-2010, 04:42 PM what about water? (getting sucked in, any risk?)
gardenstategr8g8 06-08-2010, 06:51 AM what about water? (getting sucked in, any risk?)
I was actually REALLY CURIOUS about the SAME THING!!! on BOTH of these units!!!
the Vararam was more curved upwards, not directly straight induction like the VCM to the Throttle Body... Might be alot less rain in Australia??? The New Era had problems
Monaro@JHP 06-08-2010, 09:40 PM It's a copy of a genuine HSV 427 design. I'm sure they wouldn't have done it if there was an issue with water.
Also, keep in mind that to hydrolock working 6.0 engine you need to pour a glass of water into it, otherwise it's just going to distribute between cylinders and spit it out through the exhaust.
The only intakes that had water issues are the ones that build up water when the engine is not running (New Era)or the ones which sit too low and get dipped in the water when driving through a pothole.
Monaro@JHP 06-08-2010, 10:00 PM RAMJET cannot collect water due to the design and angle it sits at in the car.
And VCM has a water runoff channel right before the filter in case the water did get there.
HunterSwift 06-09-2010, 12:18 AM how would you think this compares to the rotofab?
WhiteGhost 06-11-2010, 10:00 PM Did this group buy/special happen? $387+17?
Also, does it come with all the radiator shroud cover cut-out hardware to make it look as nice as JHP has pictured? Or, do you have to cut your existing plastic cover?
Thanks,
Chad

JHP have 5 GP buyers on the list, so if we can get a few more together we will make this happen.
The radiator cover is extra if required, but does make the under hood look tidy with the OTR.
Heres the link for the radiator cover: http://www.jhp.com.au/g8partsdirect/RadiatorCover.htm

BigZub 06-14-2010, 10:13 PM I'm interested in the Ramjet at the group buy/special price! Please let me know when we can pull the trigger!!
HunterSwift 06-15-2010, 12:27 AM I just ordered through JHP. Can't wait to get this.
GXPaycheck 06-15-2010, 07:23 AM Any side by side comparisons of the Ramjet and VCM intakes? Only difference I can see is the Ramjet gets it's air a little lower on the radiator and the VCM is wider.
Never mind. Found my answer!
destined4GR8NESS 06-16-2010, 09:49 PM i wanna get on that list too....the ramjet seems like a good place to start

HunterSwift 06-19-2010, 10:50 PM got my RAMJET intake yesterday
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii159/hunterswift/923e5f29.jpg
And Installed mine last night....
Notes from the install: majority part of the install was on the rubber connectors (it was pain to figure out and get lined up) and the removing the radiator brackets.
I had to redo part of install to make sure MAF wire had some slack on it.
Couldn't get the screws to line up to get the intake to screw into the radiator brackets.
As far as performance:
Versus the rotofab which i had i can feel it pull a bit harder, the sound is a little different too. I think a retune with this intake would make it perfect.
all in all i am happy with my decision.
Thanks Denis at JHP.
HunterSwift 06-21-2010, 11:54 PM Ok, I have had the RAMJET on a couple days and let me just say WOW! the first day i think the car had to get used to it, but since this morning I can really feel a difference, the car really pulls a lot harder. I was a big ROTOFAB fan, and now I am a huge RAMJET fan. Some interesting thoughts, once the car is moving and you floor it you can really feel it getting the air it needs. It is funny if you are on the freeway and you let off the gas the car will take a lot longer to slow down if i just let off the gas and don't apply the brake all that ai keeps the car going, lol. The filter is huge I'll have to take a picture of the front grill, you look in it and it is filled with a big filter, i mean i dont see how an otr can get anywhere close to as much air.
All in all a great purchase. And you couldnt have a better vendor than JHP.
headhound 06-22-2010, 05:06 AM Would you be willing to offer VCM cai in the mix. Either Ramjet or VCM for a total of ten for a discont price?
Thanks!

Ok, I'll take the bait. Can you provide a technical reason why/how a CAI will change the "feel" when slowing down? Last I knew, when the foot was off the throttle, the butterfly was closed.
HunterSwift 06-22-2010, 05:38 PM yeah i cant explain, but when i lets say floor it to 80mph and left off gas it slows down just not as fast
BlueG8GT 06-23-2010, 07:10 AM Ok, I'll take the bait. Can you provide a technical reason why/how a CAI will change the "feel" when slowing down? Last I knew, when the foot was off the throttle, the butterfly was closed.
If the butterfly were to close the car would stall wouldn't it? So it is still open taking in air even at idle, and at 80mph even if you take your foot of the gas this intake is pulling in more air than stock. From what I understand anything above 65mph is where the ram air effect becomes evident with these style intakes so that could explain what he's describing.
HunterSwift 06-23-2010, 04:24 PM in engineering mode at 70mph it says the throttle position is between 10.5 and 12.5% and it definitely maintains its speed for a bit before it slows down.
JCMG8 06-23-2010, 06:58 PM if the engine goes to idle, the butterfly is *near* closed. Without data showing idle position before and after CAI install as well as CFM for the percentage open during similar conditions, all we have is perception.
If there was more air being forced in, in closed loop, if the MAF has the resolution to detect the increased airflow, wouldn't it close the throttle further to compensate? and wouldn't the proposed increased airflow lean it out if throttle didn't compensate? The net is, if it's truly a closed loop system and there is more air, it would likely compensate...and you would not see/feel a difference at idle.
Regardless, if the butt dyno says it's true, it must be.
Monaro@JHP 06-24-2010, 11:21 AM The primary control of the air flow is throttle position sensor then airflow meter. If airflow meter was capable of instantly adjusting airflow information without any delays then the throttle position sensor would not have been needed.
And effect cannot be permanently learned by computer because it only occurs at higher speeds. The easiest way to verify if it is doing it or not is to drop the throttle and record your rpms with regular intake and do the same thing with ramjet.

If I have a 7 minimum real orders we can do a group buy. But if people are just saying here that they are on the list but aren’t placing any orders, then nothing is going to change.
I need actual orders submitted. List the price and specify right on the order form that you are going to wait until group buy. If you don’t specify that this is for group buy, we will ship the item to you right away directly from Australia for a full price.
Make sure to list the price when you’re ordering.

Monaro@JHP 07-06-2010, 09:32 PM We tried, it's just not working out. The thread has been opened for 3 months and we just can't get 7-10 people together at the same time.
That group sale attempt is now officially over.
