Bad Karma

Good evening, fellow G8 owners!
My name is Justin, I'm 20, and just purchased a 2008 G8 sedan, in Liquid Red, about three weeks ago.
The circumstances through which I acquired it are rather unique, but it makes for a good story. Up until January of this year, I owned an old 1998 GMC Sonoma pickup that I bought outright the day I turned 16. It was a great truck, but it got to the point where it was going to need some work (tires, suspension, brakes, belts, etc), and I didn't want to put $3000 into a 12 year old truck. I started looking at newer model used vehicles, because, at 19 I just wasn't in the financial position to buy a new car, I thought. But then I found a new 2009 Pontiac G5. The local dealer had one for $14000, after a $7000 cash rebate. Less the cash I put down from the sale of the S10, I ended up only financing about $11,000.
Long story short, about six weeks later a friend of mine wanted to test drive my car. I made the admittedly poor decision to let her drive, and about a mile down the road she proceeded to roll us in my new Pontiac into a ditch, upside down, at 45 mph. Needless to say, I was less than thrilled at having my brand new car, the product of several years of saving and working my ass off to find and maintain gainful employment, totaled after less than two months.
But, there was a silver lining, which was the fact that my insurance company settled for $19,600 on the total, meaning I netted like six grand. So four weeks after my accident I purchased my G8 for $19,355 with 21,000 miles on it. It is the V6 sedan with the factory upgraded 11-speaker sound system, Onyx black leather interior, and the upgraded 18 inch aluminum wheels. I'm not bothering to post photos, because it's entirely stock and we all know what they look like, but the G8 is truly a beautiful and refined automobile. Certainly way more car than I thought I'd ever own at 40, let alone 20.
I'm very happy with her, and look forward to learning more about the car and eventually doing some customizations to it down the road. Most of my interest lies with upgrading the audio equipment, save for maybe having the windows professionally tinted. I'm not much of a modder, and clearly the V8 model is much better suited for straight performance in that respect (although, needless to say, the G8 V6 is a *substantial* improvement over the S10 and the G5, by a measure of exponents). I've been lurking the boards here for about a month and am impressed with the general helpfulness and knowledge of the members here, save for some distaste/nasty comments directed towards the V6 owners. Of course I'd love to have a V8, but that option was clearly not available to me.
Cheers,
Justin
