: Where is the XM antenna?

The '09s come with XM as standard. The big question:

What did GM do with the antenna? From a style standpoint, GM hasn't done the best job of antenna placement in the past. What about this time?

Does anyone have pics of the XM equiped '09 showing the antenna placement?

Those of us ordering/waiting for an '09 want to know!:)

This has been discussed before, and I'm not an expert on these things, but my guess would be that it is housed in the base of the standard antenna. I believe the mast portion of the antenna is for AM/FM and the satallite portion is in the base, serving both XM and OnStar.

I don't remember seeing pics of the placement before on the forum. I thought maybe it had too, but couldn't get a search by XM anything, even tried an antenna search, no dice.

You probably understand my concern with the antenna placement. If you look at some of the cars GM has smacked an XM antenna on, their sense of style is for the birds! It seems like the closest point to the radio is where it goes, regardless of what it looks like! My son has a 2008 Colorado with XM, and the antenna sits over the passenger side front of the windshield. Not centered, not in the rear of the cab, but smack over the passenger side of the front edge of the windshield! I mean throw it up in the air and where it lands it gets drilled and glued down! DUH! Very stylish and attractive there! NOT! I really don't want to see my G8 with a misshapen blob of an antenna smacked helter skelter on my roof! I don't really think I'm alone on this, but I could be wrong?!?!:(

It was actually discussed in this thread:

I understand that. My ex has a TrailBlazer, and the antenna is right above the windsheild on the drivers side. Looks like an afterthought.
The G8 has the antenna placed dead center, above the rear window glass, where it should be. Looks very euro.

Hey thanks! I hope that solves the problem of antenna placement. Just needed to be psychic and know that the thread had been hijacked and was discussing antennas, instead of input jacks!:err:
