: DIY sport pedal install
Nelstoys 04-13-2010, 10:37 AM Please post in the DIY section.
Today I had some time and decided to install my Sport pedals.
Tools needed (1) 10mm socket and wratchet with small extension (1)small flat head screw driver
Here they are all new and with the Gm part #'s

You have to unclip the dash panels for access to the gas pedal assembly.
Be careful not to break any of the clips, and watch out not to scratch your plastic parts.
1st unclip the front panels. Force will be needed in this step.
I started with the side panel, to get this out with ease pull the front panel off and then the side panel as it has tabs that are secured behind the front panel near the light switch.

Don't forget to unplug the light switch to get the panel out of the way.

Then unscrew the OBDII plug as there is a tab that is part of your lower panel that holds it to the car other than the clips.

Again be careful of the clips! this time i used a small flat head screw driver to help aid.
Then unclip the panel and get it out of the way.

Nelstoys 04-13-2010, 10:38 AM The stock brake pedal pad just comes off with a little tugging.
After that locate the gas pedal and the 3 bolts 10mm that hold it in place.
http://i88.photobucket.com/albums/k183/nelnova/G8sportpedalinstall005.jpg
Unbolt them and then unclip the plug, to do this slide the red clip forward as you do this the plug comes off itself no pulling needed. Reverse install is the same as you push the red clip in the plug will lock secure.

After this look at the new product its nice! Inspect it because we don't want out g8s taking off all on there own like Toyotas!

For the rear brake pad install i first soaked the new one in warm water and then removed the metal from the pad. This will make it very easy to install the rubber pad, then with some supper glue reinstall the metal.

Then reverse the procedure and enjoy your sport pedals.

Canadarob 08-31-2010, 02:27 PM Looks a lot easier than it is, when trying to remove the dash. When you are trying not to break it and hear a snap, and think oh ****, but its just the little white tabs coming out. Removing the brake was a great tip, thanks for the DIY guide.
ghodge 08-31-2010, 02:54 PM Nice work. I didn't have the patience you did so I just bent the tabs holding pedal cover on the gas pedal, removed it, and placed it on the existing gas pedal. At least I have a new pedal standing by if I survive a case of unintended acceleration.:)
1 GR8 G8 09-04-2010, 06:58 PM Awesome write up! GM made it seem so much easier than it was. The hardest part was what looked like the easiest, the brake pedal. I ended up taking your advice and removed the metal from the rubber and put it on. I used gorilla glue to re-attach the aluminum. Thanks again!
DetTigers 09-04-2010, 07:27 PM I'd like to try this, anyone know the best place to order these pedals?
1 GR8 G8 09-04-2010, 07:37 PM I ordered mine from Fred Beans Parts. Awesome customer service. www.fredbeans.com
Pace Performance has them but they're waaaaay overpriced. Parts.com also has them I think.
Canadarob 09-04-2010, 08:19 PM Your local dealer.

$74 from parts.com, $110 from the dealer.
Thanks 1 GR8 G8
Canadarob 09-04-2010, 08:33 PM It would have been 100 plus for me shipped, from anywhere I sourced. The dealer was competitive since the boarder fees usually kill me, plus free shipping that way, especially on larger parts, like the trunk liner.
hazer396 09-05-2010, 10:30 PM great write up!

No problem! Glad to help. Parts.com is great they usually sell things at dealer net plus 5%. I know this because I paid the same price ($74) when I got mine from
FB.
LuminaME 12-18-2010, 02:10 PM so ... are the V6 & V8 gas pedals the same? or by any chance they are different?
I got little confused because in above pic I read P/N 92165105 for the accelerator pedal-sensor, where in many online stores it's giving 92213647!
(and more confusing my 2007 Holden part number reads 92165102  )
Monty 12-18-2010, 06:44 PM My stock pedal part # is 92213646. The sport pedal part # is 92213647. Check your number by looking on the side of the pedal. You should see a white label. If it's the same as my stock number you should be able to replace it.
LuminaME 12-20-2010, 02:08 AM one more question.
what is "sport" about these?
is it only the aluminum faced look, and non-slip rubber pad?
or is there something like shifted accelerator volt signal? which may alter throttle opening from stock pedal sensor!!
LuminaME 12-26-2010, 09:56 AM ended putting only the rubber-alloy covers.
removed cover from the new accelerator and cliped it to stock pedal :)
oh...and thanks to OP for the hint about removing the aluminum cover off the brake pedal while the install... makes it 100 times easier to install.
L76 FAN 03-23-2011, 09:31 PM Thanks for the tutorial man. Worked like a charm when I did mine today. What an improvement over the non sport pedals.
G84ME! 03-24-2011, 06:40 AM I'm watching some on eBay but I feel like a fool spending $90 for something my foot will block 90% of the time. Any cheaper but not cheap alternative out there?
Sent from my iPhone using Autoguide
L76 FAN 03-24-2011, 08:37 AM Ya know man I thought the same exact thing, but opted to give it a shot anyways. I can't believe how much they stick out now, compared to the non sport ones. Gives the interior a whole new feel now. I payed like 8X.XX on eBay, and I don't regret it at all.

G84ME! 03-24-2011, 09:15 AM This board is evil....makes me spend money, LOL! Thanks bro...
Canadarob 03-24-2011, 12:38 PM There are cheaper ones on pfyc, but they do not look as nice.
G84ME! 03-24-2011, 01:34 PM I found one place called ultimatepedals.com or something like that, and they are cheaper and look pretty good actually. They have many versions. We shall see..
Rich G 04-07-2011, 11:48 AM Couldn't you just snap these over the existing gas and break Pedal??? Am I missing somthing here???
G84ME! 04-07-2011, 12:06 PM ^Yes, these are not cheap Advanced Auto pedals as far as I understand. These are the full pedal so you have to remove the old and replace with the new.
johnnygoat 04-07-2011, 11:40 PM Hi Guys just wondering would these be the same thing http://www.gmpartsdirect.com/results.cfm?addtocart=1&addpartnumber=92214916&singlepart=1&partnumber=92214916 http://www.parts.com/accessories/index.cfm (you need to do a parts search in the accessory catalog) and are these just as good as putting in the whole gas petal. Thanks

The GM ones include the full gas pedal mechanism, only a brake pedal is just a cover.

How tough was the install???
Canadarob 04-08-2011, 06:31 PM It was pretty easy once I found out what to do, reading the post. Just have to remove the plastic covers under the steering wheel, unbolt it and replace. The toughest part was getting the 3rd bolt at the top back on. Also, make sure to be careful removing the plastic, as the little white clips that sit between the cover and the steel frame snap easy.
executor999 05-21-2011, 02:18 PM I want to thank the author for the tutorial with pics. Worked like a charm!
SLO 60 09-15-2011, 02:53 PM Thanks for the write up! Made the install super easy as I did it today in about an hour. Only thing I noticed was the accelerator pedal comes aweful close to the floor mat unlike the non-sport one. I had a set of winter mats with ridges and the pedal comes in contact with it on WOT.
