im in the process of buying a red 2009 G8 v6 with 36,000km (about 22,000 miles)

is there anything specific to these cars that i should look for before i sign on the dotted line? anything worth noting?

Test drive her quite a bit IMO. There is some issues with the front suspension that you should listen for (popping or anything that doesn't sound right). Also may want to take her up to 70-80 to see if there is any weird vibrations.

I would ask if the links , front and rear ball joints have been replaced. This has been an achilles heel for the car. Typical symptom is a thumping sound when crossing small bumps. Mine got so bad I had steering wheel shake while braking. There are several threads in this forum about this.

Ravage has a good point.

FYI I'm over 43k on my GT with no suspension problems. In fact, the only issue I've had is a brake caliper bracket rattling, which was replaced under warranty.

Check for excessive chipping. If your paint has major touch-up paint applied, you might be able to get
them to commit to some kind of complimentary paint protection. (dealer)
At the very least, negotiate for money off the price. (private party or dealer)

Take it out on the highway and see if the steering wheel shakes or vibrates while cruising along between 60-80 (MPH that is.. :driving:).

my advice is to look the other way and get something else......camaro, challenger...this is a great looking car from outside, but built very poorly...i have had everything replaced, and only 13k miles, 3 recalls, ball joints, arm bars, headlights 2x...i got new car again now

some great info. thanks guys. took it up to 85km/h and there wasnt any shaking or weird noises going over bumps.
i also get the balance of the factory warrenty. so if somehting fails pre-maturely it should be covered.
can anyone tell me if the "premium" audio system has a factory installed amp? it doesnt sound all that premium to me lol
