Hi guys im in the process of looking for a g8 i already got approved from my credit union and i just wanted to know what would be a good price to pay at a stealership for a used g8 with about 30k miles on it. Im leaving from the lsj crowd i had a saturn ion redline pushing 370whp but i really want a 4 door sedan. as soon as i finish selling my mods ill go g8 hunting.

There are some minor issues that can be taken care of under warranty, but stay away from one that has a steering wheel shake because that problem is hard get rid of. I have a 2008 and it's been trouble free, so one year is no better than the other. There's a ton of info about the G8 here, and if you do some reading you'll cover all the bases. Good luck with your search!

I just traded my 09 that had the shake pretty badly. It was annoying as hell. The other thing is that car can suck some petro. Now granted I live in a very hilly area but I was filling up like once every 2-3 days and averaging about 290-300 per tank of Super at about 45 a pop. Now I know it was a V8 and all that but thought since I mainly drive 80% highway and 15% of that was hilly, still thought I would manage in the lower 20's in mpg not 17-18. Look at their upper strut bearings and see what condition they are in. My buddy wanted a G8 when their was still some on the lot and I told him about the steering wheel shake so he drove 7 of them and all of them had it so he bought a Charger instead and was a previous Pontiac owner in the LS1 crowd and his comments were that did not feel safe. All I could say is I know.

What is weird is I did not have it all of the time , it was hit or miss. One day it would shimmy and then the next not shimmy and it did not matter what road it would vary so that is what was confusing. BUT if my wife rode with me (she is petite) it would shimmy 100% of the time so that made it annoying also because that is when you wanted the car to shine. I loved the car and will miss it but not the shimmy or the gas mileage. But nothing beats that power it had and that feeling you could mess with almost anyone and stand a chance. Good luck on your search.

Well I was going econobox because I was tired of the gas mileage and I know everyone differs on their mileage but I did have the Cortex and cold air and before those two I was getting around 22 average on my current drive. After Cortex and back to stock intake I was down to 17-18 so not exactly sure if it was the cortex and a little heavier foot. But to your question I went looking for something that could carry my upside down since I only had the car for 8 months or so and so ended up with a Genesis Coupe - The lack of torque and horsepower for that matter is definetly apparent but I got it to save on Gas and the car is a blast to drive. It has the track suspension and brembo's and opted for the 2.0 turbo to play with down the line. But it will never match up to the G8 in power but does feel like a go-cart in handling and I am grinning from ear to ear driving a car that does not shimmy. I do not know if it did not have that shimmy if I would of got rid of the G8. That really got on my nerves and I had changed alot of suspension parts trying to figure it out with no avail.
