So just taking a poll. What do you guys think

If you going to the 1320 take off the cover. It keeps heat in but also keeps the motor clean. I just put mine back on for day to day driving to keep things a little cleaner. When i go to the track it comes off.

Mine came off the first week and has sat in the corner of my garage ever since.

On. Otherwise the hotdogs roll off before they're done.

On for daily driving. Off when I go to the track.

That was my first MOD I guess. I take those damn things off every car I get and the sit in the garage until I trade it in for something else.

It's obvious from your avatar that you prefer covers off. :boink:

I'm leaving mine on. The engine doesn't look that good naked IMO.

Now, if I had a Magnacharger bolted on.......:wink2:

Keeping the cover on is actually better from a performance perspective. The few degrees difference of the intake manifold is offset by the fact that heat from the exhaust radiates upwards towards the fuel rails, and ends up heating the fuel inside the rails. By keeping the cover on, it isolates the rails, keeping them cooler. There have been some tests run with the cover on and off, and there is a slight power advantage to keeping it on

I keep it on

Has any one seen custom covers yet?? I like the look of painted covers...plus with a 160 degree thermostat I think will make a real world difference...vs undocumented / speculated heat soak from the cover...

For YOUR protection KEEP IT COVERED!!

Good for you. I think they are a lame idea:judge:

I took mine off. I noticed that the underlining of the cover (that black shiney stuff) was starting to melt onto the hoses that run the length of the valve covers. Too much heat. Won't 2 piece Vette covers fit???

If it looked more like this, maybe I'd consider leaving it on no matter what...

Mine on the GTO are off (2-piece, don't cover the intake manifold). I was told by a performance shop (and common sense) that they trap heat under them and can shorten the life of the coils.

For anyone that's wondering, the only benefits to the covers are looks and sound dampening. They aren't designed for anything else, so if you don't mind slightly more noise from under the hood (these things are all too quiet anyway, I'm used to carburators and open element air filters), take them off.

That one's a lot better looking as well. More similar to the ones we had on the GTO, except even better looking than those.
