YanniG8 05-09-2010, 12:29 PM Has anybody bought a G8 from the US ......?
if so,
what changes did u have to do, to pass Canadian inspection .....?
I heard something with the cluster ..... ?
what is this, can some1 explain it to me ...........
thanks
Wrecker 05-12-2010, 12:13 PM Thats a good question. I'm well aware of what it takes to get the car up here, but what needs to happen once it's here, in terms of alterations?
courtroom19 05-12-2010, 03:23 PM You don't need to do anything to the instrument cluster. You just have to make sure the daytime running lights can not be turned off.
Where are you located?
courtroom19 05-13-2010, 08:58 PM YanniG8, where are you at?

I would love to get the GXP ...... but I love the $10 000....more .....
that I saved by getting a GT (with 19's)
Aaron407 05-14-2010, 10:47 PM Would GM Canada warranty an imported G8?

Yow! I suggest a GXP based purely on the fact you're getting it from the states. GT's are available in Canada, and plentiful at that. Not to mention the price is right (~$30,000?). There's a $16,000 gap between the GT's and the GXP's on dealer lots here in Edmonton. That said, if I were going to go the extra mile to get a G8 from the States, I would certainly get the limited, more powerful and much more desirable GXP. I would anticipate you'll make up any difference upon resale considering the depreciation of the GT versus the GXP. WOOF!

Even in the USA the GXP's are about 10 G's more expensive than the GT's

Yes..............
I called GM Canada ....... the warranty is honored 100% as long as the car is......6 months old .....AND....AND.... 12000 km
If ur missing 1 of these terms, ur on ur own. Once both are met, warranty kicks in.
U can also buy an extended warranty, as long as u do this, while the car is still under original warranty.
willie 05-15-2010, 05:58 PM warranty honored in usa or canada >had warranty service done while i was in florida for 3 months willie

This is correct. Have 12110kms on my GXP , then this happened two weeks ago

Needs crank, cam, bearings, and oil pump. Warranty will cover everthing. If it had 11999kms i'd be on my own.
If you ever need roadside assistance with an imported US car call the US #, not the Canada #. I found this out the hard way

The place doing your RIV must not have been aware of the Canadian law differences with regards to Daytime running lights. I've seen it get missed around here sometimes too!

I was unaware of that, good to know.
