So get this, this morning I had to take my Liquid Red GT in and while I was waiting I got to talking to the manager that was standing outside. I asked him where all his G8 Gts were? He told me that I bought the last one they had gotten:). Then he goes on to tell me that the people at the GM factory that make a part of the axel went on strike and they are not going to be getting anymore until the end of August. My mouth fell open and hit the floor. I have a friend that's been hunting for one. He did however say that he could get her one from a different dealership in the state. I'm in California. I explained to him some of the markups I have read on some of these posts and he just nodded his head and said what a terrible way to do business. He told me that They don't do the "markups." Explains why I got a good deal. Anyways I rushed home to tell you guys the new news. He said they had a shipment on the way and it got sent back. Oh, he also said to look for a new G8 GT commercial soon. It will have the Panther Black GT.

That sucks.... If that is true, I may have to light a fire under the wifes rear as she wants to wait until July

You got a good deal also becasue of te hover $1300 price increase for 2009. That dealer may not be getting any until August simply becasue of allocations, which could have nothing to do with axles. BTW, the strike appears over. http://www.uaw.org/news/newsarticle.cfm?ArtId=486

No strike cost GM 2 Billion and a new stock price of 17$ and change. It'll be interesting to see if they continue to cut production lines. Let's hope the G8 survives.

What would American axle factories have to do with a car that is built in Australia? And would they really stop a shipment and turn it around and send it back to OZ?

Yep trucks are out, cars are in. These days it is just kind of ridiculous to buy a truck when you don't need one for your day to day use. Even the 4 cyl Colorado gets the same or worse mileage as my car. That's pretty pathetic.

The 2005 5-Cyl Z-71 Ext Cab Canyon I traded in on the G8 averaged pretty much exactly the same as my G8GT, mid to low 20s.
