I posted this on the general lounge area, but am not getting anything. I figured I'd ask some of you who may actually live in Utah:

I'm considering a road trip and was wondering what all is entailed with getting a car onto the salt for a run. Popular Mechanics just did a write up of a run with a Camaro and a GT500 they drove to the salt flats and ran. They didn't do anything special to the cars.

I did a little searching this morning and found several methods of running on the salt flats, but these club sponsored events seem to all want roll cages, helmets, big fees, etc. Is there an easier way to run a stock passenger car out there?
