Hey guys i know this is a pretty tiny and basic question but my flip up key (the one with the button) won't stay locked down and was just wondering if anyone had any ideas on how i could fix it, i don't think its ridiculously complicated it also came like this when i got my g8 so if anyone has any suggestions id appreciate it.

When my key folds in the chrome button pops out. Feels spring loaded. If yours doesn't, it's probably a busted or out of place spring. Carefully pry it open and take a look inside.
If that fails take a look in this thread (http://http://www.g8board.com/forums/showthread.php?t=10452)for part #s and cost of replacement.

I think what MI04 was eluding to is that once the key is "mated" to the fob portion (assembled) it's considered permenent.
I don't know if you were able to pry it apart in an effort to fix your spring if it would go back together properly or be able to be mated to the car afterwards.
I got one of my fobs replaced under warrantee and it's been perfect ever since.

The keys are covered under the normal warranty. Dealer replaced two of my flip keys already with zero hassle. Take all of your keys in with you.

My key is wearing out and will not lock in all the way. The key now partially sticks out when I fold it closed. Will they replace this under warranty?

The fob comes apart and the inside of the flip key is exposed kinda. I dont think you can remove the bottom cover of the key without damaging it. If you still have a warranty, get it replaced.

I'm at 15,000 miles, so I'm still good to go. I guess its time to go to the dealer.

YEAH I would take it to the dealer since it's still under warranty. Let it be their problem, and not yours. I have about 14k and no problems thus far. Knock on wood... LOL

I have had it replaced. They didn't tell me that you have to reset all the keys at the same time so I ended up having to go back to the dealer for a second time.

A good dealer will. A bad dealer will tell you "it's normal."
