Can I remove the factory amp totally. I was under the impression that the rear door speakers run through this amp yet they still work when it is unplugged?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

There is a lot going on back there. I think all your speakers run threw that unit.

IF your replacing everything, then by all means...

I already ran a set of kenwood coax in the rear doors and polk components up front. Now putting in an old PPI pc2150 and 3 10 inch mtx 6500 subs.

Once I can save up the money I am going morel or focal components all around with cadence or rainbow amps. and probably 2 IDMAX 12's with a JL 1000/1

Why switch amps? Do you know what the signal to noise ratio is on the PPI's compared to almost every other amp on the market? There is none cleaner than the old PPI's IMO.

Of course I've not been in the market for 8 years, so things may have changed.

Im a little out of the loop myself, but I know that this amp is one of the best that I have ever owned. I guess the only reason I was switching was to go to something that made a good bit more power. although I think my setup once these cars offer a head unit solution is going to be a more SQ based so I may just keep the PPI

the stock amp is crap.take it out.the wire connector going into it is for making your connections,it does not need to be plugged in.
enjoy your new amp

well stock amp is gone and everything is pretty much complete. the system sounds great now. Does anyone have any ideas where I can pull a keyed on source for the remote. I tried using a speaker but the voltage wasn't enough. Ran out of time so I didn't get a chance to go searching around with a test light

Hit up a stereo shop and get a signal relay switch. DEI makes them. It hooks up to +,-,remote, and speaker. It works great for about $25 bucks and there is no popping or any other negative issues.
