How is the leather in the G8's holding up? How would you compare it to other cars? Anyone notice any cracks or collapsing in the foam?

I have leather in my 07 Mustang GT and about 2 months after I had it, the foam on the right side of the drivers seat started to collapse. I have been maintaining the leather pretty good so far, and when I keep on it, it tends to look brand new.

Reason I am asking about the leather is because a buddy of mine has an 06 Altima SE-R and I noticed his leather interior is one of the nicest I have ever seen. For 3 years old, and being a daily driver with almost 40,000 miles, it looks pretty damn good. And they're bulky seats too. My Mustang seats seem flimsy and so do the ones in the G8.

I am thinking about custom ordering mine to have the cloth seats, but still somehow manage to get the Premium package and everything else. Do you think this is possible? I know this is off topic, but how long does it take to get a G8 if you order it from the factory? I assume longer than normal since it's coming from Australia...

I'm sure the foam is the same stuff for cloth or leather. The G8 leather seats and steering wheel are excellent. The car is too new in the US to have any longevity data, but the Auzzy's have had it since 06 without complaints. Just get the Sport Package and enjoy it. Well then again, my headrest is showing signs of wear from my head being pinned against it every time I hit the throttle. LOL Nothing lasts forever, and life is too short to worry about it!

All the seats, steering wheel and leather wrapped shifter. O wait i bet this has something to with your JAG. If you don't like the car get rid of it but honestly people are getting sick of seeing your negativity toward the car.

Please understand that it is kangaroo leather, which is tougher than a flak jacket. :p

the g8's leather is not as soft as what i'm used to (ie...king ranch f150 and g35 infiniti coupe)...but i think it fits the car's personna perfectly...and it's extremely grippy for going around corners exceedingly fast! :)

Your comparing the cheap leather in a Mustang to a G8 GT?

This is exactly what I am looking for. I have not really seen leather in other cars except mine, and well...in my Mustang it's really cheap and crappy. I hate it sometimes. The foam has been drooping and there are some cracks developing although I clean and coniditon my leather once every two weeks.

The leather is holding up better than in my 05 Acura TL, that car had all kinds of wrinkles in the seat cushion side bolsters by this time. The G8 has none at the same point in life.

The Acura leather while soft, was too soft, the G8 is a lot thicker and tougher, but not smooth as some luxury cars. I find the G8 leather just right.

I agree with need4speed. My seat shows no wrinkles after 5000 miles.

Sweet. I should hopefully be getting a G8 sometime soon. Maybe in 2 months or so. I just have some odds and ends I have to do and stuff. I am definitely in love with this car.
