: My MPG with vMS and Roto-Fab
I drove 4 hours to PA Saturday. Average speed was 62. It was a mix of 2 lane, 4 lane and interstate. I got 26.8 MPG and this was without using cruise control.
The trip back was mostly I-95, lots of traffic, and some in-town stop and go. I reset and got 25.2 for that return trip. Again, no cruise control and a bit of playing around just to hear the intake.
I was pretty pleased. I was not driving, especially on the way home, to get the best MPG.

Did you figure that up yourself or are you going by the puter?
1992B4C 06-09-2008, 09:42 AM Was that better than when yours was stock? My recent road trip was over 25mpg stock and coming out of the mountains was over 27 but that was with some coasting downhill.
Yes. Better than stock by a couple of MPG when comparing to similar driving conditions.
Stingpac 06-09-2008, 12:49 PM You'll maximize fuel economy with Cruise Control set @ 55mph ... so with the VMS Tune/Roto-Fab ... you should be able ta squeeze out 28mpg under those conditions. Not bad at all for when you're not gettin' on the pedal or racing...
lsp408 06-09-2008, 12:57 PM my g8 gt ain't see over 15 mpg yet!!! I got 750 miles on it and its hard 750 miles so far
tgb321 06-09-2008, 01:27 PM So I take it that you are very happy with the vms tune and intake? Is there a big difference between the stock g8 gt and one with vms tune and intake? I really didn't like the way the tranny shifted in the stock g8 gt, but I didn't drive in sport mode, just regular drive. Please elaborate. (I don't care about mpg, I'm not rich I just understand that performance cars don't give good mpg.)
I am VERY pleased with the Roto-Fab and VMS tunes. RF is well made, fit great, sounds fantastic and adds power. The VMS tunes are what I asked for. There is a noticable increase in power and the tranny works better in all modes. This is my daily driver and I wanted responsive power and shifting. The tranny still is not perfect but it is quite improved. I did not want VMS to do anything that would have a big negative impact on the reliability of the parts. It shifts faster and firmer but not harshly. It get confused much less. It is to the point that I hardly ever think about the tranny during a drive.
They can do about anything you and you wallet want. Let them know.
G8 Ray 06-09-2008, 02:02 PM You bettered my 26.1 mpg avg on 320 miles. Lets see what happens after my tune.
macgto 06-09-2008, 03:29 PM I did a round trip to Maryland and back this weekend. Cruise set on 75. DIC reported 24.5 mpg.
Car is bone stock.
mac
g8_795 06-09-2008, 03:57 PM I can consistently get 27.5-28.3 mpg driving from/to DC to Haymarket (~25 mile trip) setting my cc at 55 mph on I-66 when not dealing with traffic. In other words, ideal conditions. I do have Magnaflow cat-back, but I heard that a cat-back system should hurt your mpg. BTW, it is very hard to cruise 55 mph, I love to go fast in this car.
It would be interesting to see what mpg you get with VMS tune/Roto-Fab CAI with ideal conditions (i.e. 55 MPH, no traffic, relatively flat terrain).

Why is that, it should help it. Unless you mean you floor it all of the time so you can hear it!:driving:

That is the truth.
racerx 06-09-2008, 05:46 PM i still say not to rely on the DIC. do it the old fashin way and i'm sure your jaw is gonna hit the floor.
But hey it's june and...and june brings out the flowers in may or some sheet like that...
Rob Moser 06-09-2008, 09:45 PM I am getting much better MPG than all of you.... Of course, I have wife pushing car.
Reality:
VMS tune, Roto-fab CAI and Magnaflows get us just under 20 mpg in mixed driving...
NOT - fasT!
