Well here they are, I'll give you the dyno runs that we did yesterday in Springfield, MO. (Power tour 2008, Stop number 2)
Lets start off with the 1st run on the dyno. Strapped it down on the Dynojet, 150 people standing around the dyno to see what all the cars would do. Right off the bat the dyno starts to act up, the guy goes thru the gears and gets to 4th and runs it up to 5000rpm. Shuts it down and tells one of the other guys it was a bad run. Something happened to the computer on the dyno. He called it RF interference. Shut down and then reboots the computer and tells me he won't be able to give me the torque readings, but, should be ok for the hp. Starts the second run, but, the tach on the big screen they use is flopping around like a big fish out of water, he continues the run until he hits 6000 rpm on the tach in the car. Just about a 1 minute cool down and starts the third run, the tach on the big screen doesn't move at all, he continues thru the gears until he hits the rev limiter at 6200.
I'll give you the numbers of the second and third runs since the first one was aborted.
Run file 6/8/2008, 3:48.45, run type RO, run conditions 98.57 degrees, 28.79 in-hg, hum. 30%, sae 1.07 MAX Power= 283.72
Run file 3:48.41, RO, run conditions 97.87 degrees, 28.79 in-hg, humidity 30%, sae 1.06 MAX Power= 285.29
The speed did show up on the graph, the first run was 140mph, run two was 108, don't know what happened.
The two cars before me were a 2007 Z06 that pulled 453hp and his speed on the dyno was 170 mph, he was pretty modded out. The car just before me was a 2006 gto, exhaust, intake, computer tune, his best hp was 358.
So, you be the judge, do these numbers sound correct, I thought they would be a little higher, low 3's maybe. I did ask the main guy if he thought having a cold air intake helped today. He didn't think so, the conditions were just too hot and the sun was beating down on the engine bay with no real cool down between the runs. You have to understand that there are cars signed up to run the rest of the day and they don't have time to let the cars cool down as they should. I'm not complaining, they can't do anything about the weather and computers are just that, they have problems occassionally, I just happened to be on the dyno when this happened. They didn't charge me for the runs, so, maybe they thought there could have been something a little off also. Still was a good experience, I'll be going to the street machine nationals in September and the same crew will be there and I'll have it done under better conditions.
