: Anyone found a cure for the dash reflections?

At certain sun angles the whole instrument panel becomes unreadable due to refelections. Has anyone found a cure as you literaly cannot see what speed you are doing sometimes? Even the DIC becomes unreadable, only sloution I have found is to use the speed function on my GPS if I really need to know what my speed is.

At first I thought is was refelction off the "metal" trim below the instument cluster that was causing it. While that may be part of the problem the majority of the reflection seems to be caused by the instrument clusters curved clear cover and sunlight coming through the windshield.

I found that the reflection I was picking up was from my faded blue jeans. Guess you could wear all black :gr_jest:

Get the windows tinted, it's much better.

Yea, tint helps but doesn't cure 100%

Polarized sun glasses are the BOMB! Plus I NEVER put any dressing on my dash's. :)

Once you go polarized you won't wear normal ones.:)

My magnetic "clip-ons" are polarized, and I still get the glare sometimes on my dash.

Knowing how to cut this down a little with a cheap mod would go a long way for some people here.

I'm going to get some blue cellophane and see how that works. I had some blue high temp plastic, but it was too thick and made it hard to see during the day.

not sure how well it will cut down the glare, but it will look cool.

Agreed, but you have to get over seeing the dot grid, or in bad cases rainbow, in the tint.

*GASP!* You mean you DON'T wear your sunglasses at night? :wink2:

But regardless, yea a nice cheap mod like SRG is talking about would go a long way for a lot of us.

Ok. The object that's causing most of my glare is the factory silver trim they have running across the dash. I think if you replace that silver strip with something like the picture below, most of the glare will dissapear (hopefully). I have a question posted already for the price just to replace the dash trim.

Most of my glare actually comes off the top of my steering column....

I was going to lay a piece of black tape across the top of the silver trim piece below the gauges to see if that eliminates it.
If it works, it's getting flat blacked.

the most glare I ever got was from the silver trim. Everything else is hardly noticeable compared to it.
The whole kit is $730 including shipping. And if you send your old pieces back to the CA address, they will refund you $90.

By the way, you can pop the silver trim off very easily and see if it is causing the glare, start at the outside edge and pull towards the driver and it just pops off, I did it a few weeks back, not for the glare, but because it looked like it would just pop right off.
