I finished a raining install at Anthem Motors in Phoenix last week. I did a before and after comparison trying to quantify an improvement. Here is what I did:
test:: On a quiet road, 2 lanes, with staggered white lines, which seem to be fairly uniform accross the country, I drove the G8 making as fast 90 degree left and right turns and evaluated the reaction with OEM and a pedders track II conversion. Here are the findings:
1. OEM GT with 19 inch wheels:: At 35 mph, had started tire squeeling, and the excessive body role was very pronounced. By the time I changed directions, the body was still rolling from the previous 90 degree turn. I drove to 40mph, then abandoned the test becasue the tires were squeeling too much. Did not want to damage or abuse the tires
2. TrackII Pedders system, less the sway bars. Did the same test, and got it to 60mph. At 60mph, still had no tire squeel. Traction control would kick in so I abandoned the test for safety reasons.
Based on a previous test on the first G8 I did an install on, I duplicated the TrackII experience/test. I did not do the pre test. So duplicated it with this one. the change is substantial.
Now there is still some designed body role, but seriously reduced. With the tests that Pete has done on his G8 with an eXtreme kit, (adjsutable coil over) you can reduce the body role, an additional 25% adding our adjustable sway bar, and another 25% by installing the adjustable coil overs.
the other thing that was really noticable on the OE suspension, was the step out on the rear suspension. There was virtually no step out on the pedders setup. This is a function of very non compliant rear Xembmr bushes. The fix on this is to install our Pedders Xmember bush inserts. Makes a huge difference
thanks
