I'm also very interested, as long as i don't have to use premium gas or get any engine trouble code lights.

Thanks!!! We will test the kit on a car to verify that it will not set any engine codes before we finish the development. You will not be required to run premium fuel with the air intake. Thanks again for your interest!

I am also interested in the v6 intake. a few questions on it
1 how much will it cost.
2 what size filter will it use? opening 3 3.5 or 4 inch?
3 cold air or ram air?

Our current plan is to use the same air box and filter as our V8 version. Too much filter doesn't hurt a thing!!! The difference starts at the MAF adapter tube that connects the air filter to the MAF sensor. It will most likely be similar in price to the V8 version because all of the components will either be the same or very similar, but on a slightly smaller scale. We developed an air intake for the V6 mustang a few years ago and I was amazed at the difference in power. I hope our intake for the V6 G8 will yield similar results.
We are still working on the ram air for our V8 intake. We've experienced some issues with our initial prototype, so we remain uncertain about the final design. However, the air box functions well without the ram air option. Thanks for your interest.:)

UPDATE
The loaner vehicle for mocking up the inlet tube was delayed a few times and finally fell through. We may have one lined up for this week to finalize the design. After that we still have to complete the inlet elbow tooling. We do it all in-house, so it should go quickly. It's not the news we hoped to have for you at this time, but I think it will be worth waiting for.

Our progress on this is unchanged. We still haven't found a car locally that we can borrow for the length of time required to do the fit-up. Anyone here close to 46792 and willing to work with us???

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I have a G8 I bought it brand new it had 10 miles on it. I got it right off the truck I loved it but from the time I got it it smelled like coolant, I finally took it in after about a month because they check engine light came on they checked it over and told me if was nothing and said there was no leaks. I took it back a week later for the same coolant smell and they looked again and found that there was a crack in the block and I was told there was a problem with the casting of the engine's so if any of you smell coolant you may want to get it checked out. so anyway they ordered me a new engine got it in and took of driving again i only got 5 miles when the smell was overwhelming i took it back and all the seals were leaking and check engine light came on the cams were bad and they had to order new ones it's been 3 weeks and I still don't have my car back they are still working to try and fix it over all i took the car back 4 times. So i don't get to enjoy my car like everyone else but still pay the payment and no good trying to call GM they keep telling me they can't do anything so i now have to get a lawyer. So if you have that smell go get it checked out but i will warn you it is going to be a long road

We have not given up on this at all. We need a car to finish the tooling for the air inlet tube for the V6 engine. Anyone in Northern Indiana interested? Please contact us @ 260.375.4480.:judge:

Roto-fab, you cant get the measurments off of pontiac or by calling them, then make a prototype, mail it out someone who will test it on, and go from there?

or how about visiting a dealership that has g8's and ask if you can do some measuring?

Sad.

I'd be interested in a CAI for my V6 but I want one that dosen't give me the big old air sucking noise like the rest of them do when you step on the gas.

I bought mine more for a family car for trips but that dosen't mean that i don't want some performance out of it. I just don't want the noise associated with extra performance that many seem to think you must have.
If it sounds louder, it must be faster. :bs:

if its anything like the V8 when it comes out, it'll be Nice, your motor will roar, and not 'suck':wink2:

That's just it, I don't want a roar or suck, just a nice quiet stealthy motor. ;)

VMS has a tune for this engine as installed in a G6. (does require premium) Don't see why they could not just as easily do the same for the G8 V6. In the Holden VZ they are running CAI and Catbacks for extra power

MLozano
10-25-2008, 09:21 AM
Magnaflow has a Cat-Back listed on there website for the V6, no MSRP yet though. I just ordered a CAI from OPG they say will work with my G8. Crossing my fingers, i'll post more once i get it running.

MLozano

Yes i'm holding on to it till i get my car back. I just wanted to note that the price and quality is excellent and working with the company is pretty amazing. They really care about their feedback and are willing to go far out of their way to make sure your satisfied.

Don't have any performance stats yet but i'm starting to think it's the same exact one as the V8 with an adapter where it meets the engine.

Ordered mine on Monday and received it Wednesday. It's killing me not being able to install it right now due to rainstorms. Like everyone one else stated, quality is top notch and Roto-Fab was great to work with.

Ordered one too and was able to install it Friday morning while no rain. I noticed a great improvement of throttle response and low speed drivability improvement. The intake noise is not loud or annoying at all when accelerating. The fuel economy has improved about 2-3 MPG as tested on a before/after city test drive. The motor doesn't seem to be working as hard either just by the sound during driving (you know how those "thrashy" 6 cylinders sound ). No dyno or anything but do notice improvement.

Installed my roto-fab last wed. If I drive sensibly I get about 24mpg city/29hwy

Also i find that the acceleration from 60km/h to 130km/h is AWESOME now.

Finally was able to install my Roto-Fab Intake today. Took about 30 minutes and I'm very pleased with it! There is no more 'hesitation' on initial throttle tip-in and top end power feels great. I only have 20 miles on it so I'm not sure the ECM has totally adjusted for increased flow, but so far so good! Not sure on MPG, but I tend to have a heavy foot. Also, like Mario stated the intake is not too loud at all while cruising and while WOT. I've had intakes on my 99 Grand Prix (MSP CAI) and 06 GTO (NEP CAI) and they were screamers. Roto-Fab sounds great and the snappier throttle response is everything I've expected!
