Just been reading up on some Hybrid future plans.

Cadillac has a 6.0L Escalade coming out with a hybrid engine.

Just curious if anyone would jump on the bandwagon if they could introduce a G8 with a 6.0L V8 with AFM and a electric hybrid that would kick in on acceleration demands?

Kind of like how the current V6 Honda Accord's hybrid only kicks in on WOT.

0-60 in under 5 seconds with excellent mpg..... Hmmmm

Kind of like the plans Lexus has for the...

Toyota FT-HS Sportscar
Est. release date: 2009-2010
What we know: At the 2007 Detroit Auto Show, Toyota debuted its hybrid sportscar concept, the FT-HS. The concept is a front-engine, rear-wheel-drive sports car with a projected 0-60-mph acceleration in the 4-second range. A 3.5-liter V6 is coupled with a hybrid system. Toyota says the car would have a "mid-priced market position" and be an "attainable exotic." According to a piece in Automobile magazine, the Japanese carmaker has approved production, with a saleable version ready by 2009 at the earliest.

The Hybrid they're putting into the Tahoe is a two mode hybrid. I believe this is the type where the vehicle can run on battery mode at low speed, much like the Prius.

I would absolutely buy a G8 hybrid however it would be over $40k initially unless heavily subsidized by GM.

Once GM gets the line going building lots and lots of hybrids then the price will decrease and you'll probably see Hybrids available on all models like Toyota is doing.

Admittedly by Bob, a hybrid will add thousands to the price of a vehicle presently, so unless Honda jumps back into the hybrid sedan market (they left, you know), and as long as GM can meet mpg targets with AFM and other cheap tricks you won't necessarily find hybrid sedans from GM as all of that tech is being directed at the large SUV segment where even though GM is the class leader in mpg they intend to do better.
