I agree but then the airdam lip would be close to speed bumps and curbs.

That's too bad. Well a smidge higher in back then to make room for some fatties. :judge:
tgb321 06-11-2008, 07:56 PM Fellas I know I'm new here and shouldn't speak out, but the suspension is kind of expensive. Other than that I love your car.

Welcome and always speak your mind.
Yes it can be expensive but the improved looks are only the icing on the cake. The real reason for the Pedders swap is to improve the handling and it does a remarkable job of that.
I have seen others spend upward of $2500 for wheels and tires. They can improve the handling too but not as much as the suspension upgrade does, IMO. They can have a dramatic visual impact and really improve the looks. Some I have seen are fantastic.
I think it comes down to what an individual wants and how much it is worth to him. You have to do what is right for you. No matter what you do, if it makes you feel even better about your G8, it is the right move for you and it doesn't matter what anybody else thinks.
1QUICKAUSSIE 06-11-2008, 11:47 PM much better !!
Red888 06-12-2008, 12:29 AM much better !!
I agree. I miss Williamsburg. Great time to have a G8!

That looks great. Love the wheel/car combo. Offsets look perfect. did you need to roll fender lips? I think the Pedders drop is really good.
GEE ATE 06-12-2008, 08:43 AM Haven't rolled them yet but will be doing it by end of week. Clearance is very close.

What are the wheel sizes and offsets again?
Rob@WretchedMS 06-12-2008, 08:49 AM i believe they are 19x8 +30
LichtS 06-12-2008, 11:32 AM Looks Sick! I know what one of the first upgrades will be to the G8 when purchased...
Cashed 06-12-2008, 12:35 PM both cars look really good. I cant find any wheels that i really like, but G8V8s photo of suspension with stock wheels really makes me consider keeping what i have for a while longer. G8V8s bottom photo really looks good. Love the lowered stance from that angle.
Mr. Sandog 06-12-2008, 01:04 PM i believe they are 19x8 +30
Looks like the offsets should be 40->50 for the rear and anything greater than a 275.
Rob@WretchedMS 06-12-2008, 01:12 PM stock offset is +48, so for a 275 i'd like to see it about +45 to +50 area
CaliWagon31 06-12-2008, 03:20 PM Looks good, car sits very nice with the pedders.

locrzng888 06-17-2008, 01:59 PM You don't have to buy the complete suspension, the springs are $358 a set. Thats what I'm thinking about doing. I don't really car about cornering ability, its not bad the way it is. I just want the lowered stance to close up the tire/fenderwheel opening. Too much distance for me.

tgb321 06-17-2008, 02:16 PM I don't think that the g8 needs to be lowered, well not by much. I think the mustang is the only car that needs to be lowered.

That sounds like a plan to me. I would ask Pedders (or whoever's springs you use) if the stock dampers can deal with stiffer springs. I don't know if they would or wouldn't so i just want to mention it. judging by the 2 strut mounts that came out of mine, you might also think about looking at yours to see how they look. You will be doing all the labor required to replace them when you do the springs anyway.

Thanks Frank. I appreciate that. I have to say that dealing with you and your crew at Rocksand Racing was the best.

I wouldn't lower your G8 if I was you. It is all about what makes you happy with your car. Lowering mine makes me happy with my G8. See, everybody is happy.:wink2:
slenhert 06-17-2008, 02:58 PM The car looks great lowered. Too bad GM didn't produce it that way from the factory!

Thanks. As good as i think it looks, for me, the handling is the bigger improvement.

The Tein double adjustable allows right height between standard to superlow in the one suspension kit.

racerx 06-19-2008, 07:45 AM If you raise and lower your height every other day....woouldn't you need an alignment?? I would think your tires are going to suffer...no?

How's the ride vs. stock?
G8 Ray 06-19-2008, 09:44 PM :censored:
The red car is way too low and the staggered height is not good for handling.
The grey one looks noce. To each their own preferance.
If I still have problems with my car your gonna see a before picture of the G8 and the after picture of a Honda. Then I'll be off posting in the Honda forum.
I knew I should have bought another Buick or Mazda (The G8 stalls in the street and in the freeway.)
JusticePete 06-24-2008, 12:13 PM The G8 comes from the factory with a bit too much bias towards ride quality. It is tall in the bum -- very tall. Dropping the front a bit and the rear about 30mm delivers a huge improvement in handling with minimal change in ride quality.
I would strongly suggest that no one change the coils and not change the dampers. The OE dampers are limp. They are NG -- No Gas. They are barely adequate for the stock coils. Because of the labor involved, most who remove the front and rear coil / damper assemblies replace both the coils and the dampers. Now changing the DAMPERS and NOT the COILS... I would like to see a member of the forum do a minimalist installation. Four dampers, sub-frame bush inserts and radius rod bushes. This will make a HUGE difference in handling with almost no change in ride quality. I have had the benefit of driving this combination, but I have vested interest in the result.
We have a G8 Damper sale that started Monday. My guess is it won't be too long before a board member that paid for their Pedders bits will be posting their views on this.

Hi Pete.
I can attest to the fact that your dampers and springs feel extremely well matched and provide excellent control while mainraining a very good ride quality, not soft or marshmellowie but firm while remaining very compliant.
Do you know when the sway-bar kits and new radius rod bushes will be in-country? My Track II less these items is so good it really makes me want to see and feel what the last few pieces (these plus at caster correcting washers) of the kit can do for what is an already wonderfully improved G8.
BTW, the rear step out that would happen in some rather demanding cornerings situations is completely gone now. Even without your bars the lean was reduced also. The amount is hard to quantify but it is deffinately better. These 2 things probably account for a large part of the greatly increased, confidence-inspiring handling characteristic of my G8.
I need an excuse to tell my wife anyway so i can go back and hangout with the guys (gear heads) at Rocksand Racing so I hope the boat docks soon!

G8 Ray 06-24-2008, 02:55 PM Nice, my rear end wiggle is gone too! Outside of just looking so good lowered, the stability is awesome.
Good looks and a tight ass. What more could we want?

Being the subtle guy I am :judge: , I sent Iron Tablets and Laxatives to AU to expedite the process :slap: . The bottles were presented and they are sitting on the right desks as a reminder to get the bars moving :) . It worked. We have 103 sets on the water and a number by AF that will arrive Friday or Monday. :driving:

That's great Pete. Can you see that Franks gets a set of bars and the new radius rod bushes for me? I paid for the full kit and install when Frank installed everything but the bar kit, RR bushes and caster washers so everything should be set once Frank gets the parts and we can set a date.
