It's easier to get a deal on a car that is on the lot. If you order, like I did, you may end up paying more :(

Bought off the lot, got close to $8K off the sticker price. G8 GT 1SC, all options except the 19" wheels.

8K is a good discount, the dealership near me has about 30 G8's on the lot. (the V6 version, which i want)

I'm sure I could hassle them into giving me a large discount...lol

I ended up getting a GT with an MSRP of $41,995. I paid $39,995 including a 5 year/ 100,000km GMPP warranty plus they made my last 4 Sierra lease payments ($1600). I know there are more cash credits out there now but when I got mine, they had 2.5% for 72 months which is what i was after.....

Hi Everyone, I am new here...looking for a G8 GT and in the research mode right now.

Hey DigitalZ.....$8000 off is a great discount, did you get that in Ontario or another province?

Also, did you use the financing option as well?

Thanks in advance.

Hey Joe,

Yes I got the deal locally (I'm in Waterdown), and I actually worked it both ways on the financing. I could use GM's offer of 2.5% but then I would lose some of the incentives. It worked out to be a better deal going with bank financing and getting a bigger overall discount. PM me with your phone # and what times to call and I can give you a shout later to share more details.

I got a quote of $705 for 60 months on a fully loaded V6 using GM financing with zero down. I can get $2000 more off the price if I bring my own financing.

Also got a quote of $746 for a GT with leather.

There are great deals to be had right now and into the new year. I was at John Bear Pontiac on Upper James over the weekend and they had a V6 G8 with a list price in the upper 36000 range being offered for 30000 bucks. That was on one of those sale signs in the window of the car.

Pretty good discount right off the bat before the haggling starts.

I picked up an in stock '09 GT (ISC) from Whitby, ON for dealer cost.
Total was $37,600 - $1000 Holiday Cash = $36,600.
I also had $1500 in GM Visa Card so effectively I paid just over CDN$35,000 (+ $75 gas tax & PST/GST)
With US exchange rate the day I bought it was equivalent of US$28,000.

Not bad for Canada!

I went for the 2.5% GMAC financing. There was an additional $3500 credit to get the car down to $31,500 if you went with bank financing at 8.9%. The credit wasn't enough to lower the overall total cost after all payments made with such a high interest rate.

I also got a great deal on a 7 year/120Km extended warranty with 5 year tire and paint protection. I have a weird feeling that this car is going to need all the warranty it can get. It's not my first Pontiac, and I know it's really a Holden, but better safe than sorry on this type of car with so little history.

I got my new 2009 G8 GT off the lot at Robinson Pontiac in Guelph mid September. Unfortunate for me I drove the car first. Have to have it today mindset doesn't bod well for negots, but I did pretty good at the time with a trade. Now there are some great deals out there, much better than I did. I've seen G8 GT 1SC at Larry Hudson Pontiac(Listowel) for $36995.

G8 Toronto

At the $36,995 price for a 1SC it must be a tester/demo with higher than new mileage (>1000km) because that is lower than dealer invoice. Still a great deal.

Well I paid $3K less than that for my 1SC and it only had 65 km on it when I picked it up a couple months ago.

Yes...if you took the $3500 extended financing rebate. I didn't bother as it negated the high 8.9% bank financing compared with 2.5% from GMAC.

I am new here and I ordered mine but it is currently lost in transit. They found me one but it apparently is a rare combo of trim and colours and is the only one in Western Canada. It was supposed to arrive at another dealer a month ago and they are blaming bad weather ect for the car being late. The sucky part is they really have no idea where it is only that it is on it's way. I guess the good part is there have never been any test pilots. I have only been waiting a week and a half and I am jonesing!

MSRP for my car is 42335$ and I am getting it for 40,500$ - incentives. I was told that was dealer cost but it seems a bit high compared to some of the other people posting so I would be interested in someone telling us what the invoice really is for each package (1SA, 1SB, 1SC, 1SD)

They gave me 3 incentive options:
1. Pay Cash and I get -3000$ in incentive.
2. Use their banks @ 8.5% I get -4500$ in incentive (cost to borrow is just over 11,000$ over 6 years)
3. GMAC @ 2.5% I get -1000$ in incentive (cost to borrow is just over 2800$ over 5 years)

Based on the rate my line of credit is at right now its cheapest over all to buy it using my LOC. Problem is it's highly unlikely that my LOC will stay at such a low rate over the 5 year term. I am probably going to go the GMAC route even though the initial price will be more then taking the bank financing but the overall cost including interest will be much less over the term (about 5000$)

SO who has the invoice pricing! :)

Thanks,

-Quake

Did you pay cash? Use GMAC financing? Or their Bank financing?

I am curious so I can question my dealership on the prices I have been given as 'family pricing' and 'as low as we can go'

Seems like they might be BS'ing me...

G8 GT (1SC) Panther Black: $34,500 + taxes. I got the $4500 in incentives for using their banks plus $2200 for trade in. Surprised they offered that much for my 99 Grand Am SE (150, 000 KM) in which the engine was about to die, guess it was a dealership loyalty bump up.

After a month, I paid off their banks loan with my line of credit (at prime).

Anyone else get a great deal on a demo? Reason i'm asking is the wife is looking at one right now, I was cruisin the dealer used lots looking for a CTS with a stick, but happened upon the g8 GT at the back of the used lot and we both were "wtf is that.. thats a nice lookin car, wonder why they aren't out front?"

Needless to say it was late a night and the only guy on the lot was a salesman for the used lot who said "he'd get back to us with a great deal on the demo they had".

My wife is goin for a test drive tonight.. (it'll be her car, i might get one myself.. LOL) based on the reviews i can already see myself liking this car. Doesn't have a stick, but i'll take a responsive suspension over rowing the gears anyday.

Cheers.

I hope my dealer isnt lieing to me and holding back 1000$. I guess I cant complain too much seeing as they called me and told me about this a week after I bought the car...

That would put my total price for my 1sd at 34000 + A/C and taxes. That is nicely competetive with the good US prices after exchange!

from what I've read on this board, any G8 built after Nov. 2008 is a 2009.5 model which will include Bluetooth. There is a code for this as well and it would show up on your dealer invoice. I haven't seen anyone with this in Canada yet because dealers are having a tough time selling the 09's on the lots as it is.

We had an awesome experience all the way through. Highly reccomend Kipp Scott Pontiac in Red Deer!

Is getting the Base car w pkg 1SB which retails for $35,175.00 + freight, etc.Total discount is $9,500,added 5/160,000km extended warranty for $2,100.

List price $35,175

Discount $ 9,500
$27,200+ $2,100 Extended Warr,Misc fees $581=$29,881+ 13% =$32812.00

That seems like way too much for a V6. See my example below.

If I had gotten 9500$ off the price of mine it would have cost around 34k after taxes for a fully loaded top of the line GT (1SD) add your extended warranty for 2100 still only gets me to maybe 37k after tax. The V6 should be at least 8k less and maybe more like 10k less. It doesnt seem like its even 5k.

I recommend you shop around with some other dealers to make sure this one isnt trying to take you for a ride.

Just my opinion :)

I killed the deal with Birchwood Pontiac in Winnipeg as they are a bunch of Crooks and their service sucks! Don't buy anything from them! I instead i purchased a Panther Black GT 1SD from McNaught Pontiac in Winnipeg.
The Deal is as follows
42435 msrp
-8000 Discounts ($500 less than Birchwood)
-5000 Trade
+$1290 5 year 100,000 GMPP Warranty ($610 cheaper than Birchwood)
+$895 Total Protection Plan (leather, paint, Rust Protection and Undercoating)
+$585 Factory Two way Remote, Mud Flapes, Floor Mats
+$295 administration Fee ($200 less than Birchwood)
+$100 Air Conditioning Charge

Total Before Taxes
$32600!!

While i think i could have tried to get a bit better deal they lowered there price on the Warranty and gave me an additional $1310 off what the other dealership was offering i decided too pour it back into accesories! McNaught is such a great dealership and they put everything out on the table no pressure and very helpfull with all of my questions.

Yeah I think I did really well just comparing my deal to others on this forum. There were only two cars in Winnipeg that matched the specs that I was looking for so I was looking at the second one as I had the first one tied up with a deposit. I think most of the sport packages have been sold in the lower parallels hence the summer tires. The ride home was about 2 hours long and one of the most pleasant/fun stretches of asphalt I have ever covered:driving:. SO MUCH POWER I have never had a v8 powered car before!
Just a side note I have no idea other than the badge why someone would buy a 5 series BMW. Not hatin just talking with my cheque book :)

That`s where my brother is picking his up tomorrow. In the end, apparently they screwed up and sold him the car at $50 over cost plus some profit$ in the finance office.
You got a great price on the warranty but could have negotiated a little more on the Protection packages. How much more depends on whether it`s an electronic rust module or just the spray.

Good to see someone else from Manitoba on here!

Hello everyone - noob here. Just purcahsed my GT 1SD Sport Tint Red Metallic yesterday and taking delivery on Thursday. Trading up from a Cobalt SS Supercharged. I'm gonna miss this car but I'm sure after a few hours in the G8 GT, it will be a faded memory quickly. I received a total of $9238 off MSRP. The car is just under $38k on the road incl. taxes and admin fees.

I have a few questions:
1. Should I consider extended warranty and which is the best plan to purchase?
2. I'm a little worried about riding on the Bridgestone's as winter is not "officially over". Has anybody been driving on the 19's in snow or very cold weather recently? Just wondering how the tires handle with this type of weather.

I am looking very forward to this new car and learning more about it on this forum - as well as making new friends in the G8 community!!

Congrats Ang! You'll love the GT.
I bought the 1SC so can't comment on the Bridgestone's. But the GY RSA's A/S grip very well.

Another purchase in the GTA!

Hey Ang
I purchased the 1sd sport package as well.
That is a good discount you got on the car.
i got $8000 off the sticker price so you did well.
In my deal they through in extra 19" winter tires (Blizzack LM-25) which is over and above the discount price.
What did you pay for admin fee's ?
I was able to get a 5 year 100,000 km Warranty for $1290 so i wouldn't pay a cent more than that. If you can get it for that price or depedning on your driving habits more kms then i would use that as a starting point.
As far as the tires go i live in Manitoba and just purchased my car. We haven't had snow yet or ice roads so the summer tires have been pretty good so far. The dealership said the winter tires wouldn't be in until August which is due to the fact that Quebec bought up everything under the sun. So i am in the same situation as you. If it does snow alot i will either be taking it really slow or getting a ride from a friend to work.
Cheers!

Good job on finding one! When I got mine they said it was the only one in Western Canada!!!
I couldnt agree more about the BMW. Especially in Canada.

Here is the math:
1. Bottom of the barrel 2009 528i is 56,300$ - Not even in the same league as the G8 performance wise and only 14k less then double the price for a fully loaded G8.
2. Closest comparison 2009 550i is 80,400$ - Over double the price with no options selected.
3. Performance model 2009 M5 is 106,900$ - No options selected and all most triple what we pay.

Be wary of the title of the video. A new M5 will spank a stock G8, I know because I tried! But come on, at almost triple the price!?!?

Thanks for all the good feedback omegadood. I can't recall the admin fees but the extended warranty prices I was quoted is nowhere near what you paid - I was quoted $1995 for a 4 yr, $100k!! I haven't bought any extras yet like Protection Pkg or Extended Warranty. Thanks for letting me know!!

Hey Ang! Looks like you did pretty good on your 1SD! Here is my opinion on your two questions.
1. Some people have, I did not. I figured most things that would cost any sizable amount of money would be covered on the powertrain warranty. That being said some people swear by them.

2. DO NOT drive those bridgestones in the snow unless you really have to on extremely flat roads at extremely slow speeds unless you are a snow driving expert. They are horrible on ice and very bad in snow. I drove down a ski hill the weekend I got my car and basically almost idled down the hill in second gear doing about 30-40 km/h. If I had been going up hill I never would have made it 100ft. I consider myself to be a very good snow driver and wouldnt recommend driving on these tires and chancing having a booboo with my baby!

Just remember this is my opinion and I am not particularily familiar with your driving environment :)

I am going in to redo my paperwork tomorrow as my dealer is giving me the new incentives. I originally was OTD for 41,200 and it will be interesting to see how much better it gets.

Hey TryMe
I was dealing with Chris Moore real nice guy. Took good care of me. I just got the spray not the elctronic protection. Wayne the finance manager told me they didn't recommend going with it as it wasn't as well tested as just the spray. I think he might have been bs'n me as i am not in the know on alot of this stuff. How bad do you think i got taken on it? What package is your brother getting 1SC? Sounds like he got a killer deal! It is cool running into another Manitoban on here do you go out on Sunday night in Winnipeg? Maybe i'll run into you hopefully not literally :driving:.

I'm down for meeting up on a Sunday night once cruising starts...
I work in the industry and sell the protection chemicals. The spray is cheaper then the rust module but nowhere near as effective. All 4 items including rust spray could probably be had for around $650ish. When I'm giving someone a deal, that's what I usually sell them for....

I was quoted $999 for the module which I thought was absurd. However, if it is more effective than chemicals then I may consider. I have not rust-proofed my last 2 GM vehicles, including my current Cobalt, and both have seen no signs of early rust. Major concerns for underbody rust are with brake and fuel lines. Gas tanks are mostly all plastic these days so I don't see a need for underbody spraying. However, hinges and door skins need to be proteced in my opinion.

What I had: 37100 purchase price, 90 days XM, 1yr Onstar.
What I have: 34000 purchse price (26437 USD), 2yrs XM, 2yrs Onstar and 3yrs free maintenance.
After the smoke cleared they are mailing me a cheque for just under 3500$.

If anyone is in or around Victoria and in the market for a G8 PM me for the dealer info. They just got a sweet Liquid Red 1SD with the red inserts! It wont last long.

Hey Quake, congrats, that's awesome!

....sorry it may be buried in past notes in this thread, but how exactly did you get $3500 back from GM/dealer?

Did you do a cash deal which currently provides a $3500 cash incentive rebate?
Did you do your own financing which also carries a $3500 finance your own incentive?
Did the dealer just like your face? :)

Paid cash. The incentive when I first purchased was 3400$ and a week and a bit later it was 6500$ + the other stuff. My dealer went to bat for me and got me the new incentives, they essentially bought the car back from me and then re-sold it to me so I would qualify.
The 3500$ came from 3100 more cash incentive + tax savings etc

Thats awsome Man now you can buy some of those mods you want orrrrr you could drive to Manitoba for a very slippery spring vacation and hang out with us in Winterpeg:) Oh on a side note i talked to my dealer and they are guaranteen rust protection for the life of my car or as long as own it so i guess i don't need the electronic rust protection and they threw in road hazard for 5 years 100,000 on my tires. Shrug i guess that is a good deal but at the end of the day i just love my car.

Does anyone elses passenger side bucket seat not go back very far? Just curios.

Today I went in to test drive a G8 GT.

I ended up leaving a deposit, for them to find me /or order me a:
2009.5 Pontiac G8 GT with the 1SD package
PBM in colour with interior Onyx black on black.

Added dealer sourced add on's:
Rear bumper back-up sensors
35% front doors tint & limo tint on the rear doors/windows
Ventvisors window rainguards
3M clear bra on: front bumper, headlights, foglights, front edge of hood, front edge of front fenders, side mirrors, & door handles

They said it pushed the price up to almost $44.5K before taxes.
Got it for cash price $33,900 + freight + fees before taxes.
$35,824 before 8% PST & 5% GST

So it was $8676 off.

I will be financing it myself, through my own means at (variable) Prime + 2.0% (I think, waiting for my bank to confirm extending my unsecured Line-of-Credit/Visa card.)
I also got pre-approved elsewhere for a car loan, at (variable) Prime + 2.75% over 72-months.

PS: All the dealer could source, was a car loan at (variable) Prime + 2.99% over 72-months.

Prime is currently 2.5% or 3% depending on your bank.
Add the 2% from your bank (var) and you're financing it yourself at 4.5-5%...maybe more.

GMAC is offering 0% but you get $3500 cash incentive if you buy it outright.

Did you calculate what your payments would have been from GM if you took their 0% and what they are with the $3500 rebate at 5+% with your bank?

Which monthly rate is lower over 60 or 72 months?

With regards to the add-ons...can't comment as it clouds the final price.

What final price (no add-ons) did you get from the dealer for a 2009.5 ISD?
It's not totally clear in your original note because of the talk of the add ons.

The cash credit right now is $6500 not $3500. There is also lease loyalty cash for some people and you can take $1000 credit instead of the maintenance program + whatever the dealer gives from their margin..

I did a comparison for my brother on the 0% for 72 months versus 4.5% at the credit union for 72 months (with the $6500). It was worthwhile for him to take the cash credit and finance through the credit union....In his situation, he saved over $1400 doing it this way...

Then the math doesn't lie and it looks like GMAC is giving a great cash incentive to finance elsewhere....helping the banks. :)

Btw....sorry, I got mixed up with Quake's deal who already had $3000 taken off when he bought it and then the GM cash rebate went up to $6500 so he got another $3500 from the dealer. My error.

$10K at variable of Prime+1.75% = 4.25% (different Line-of-Credit)

The pricing:
The salesperson was not exactly sure on the costs of all the dealer add on options.
But claimed his cost on the car, before the add on's was about: $32,900 + freight + fees + taxes.
(In that cost he included $500 for trucking in a car from 500 km away. But that turned out to be not a 2009.5)

He thought the dealer add on's were about $1,520.
(Claims he didn't know the exact #'s; as it was all out sourced to other people to do.)

So I said give me the bottom line for everything.
Because I didn't want to nickel & dime'd on every little thing.
We came to $33,900 + freight + fees + taxes.

I guess it's not bad. Doesn't matter. CONGRATS and welcome to the G8 community!

I essentially paid (DEC '08) $35,100 for a GT/1SC + freight + fees + taxes
Minus $1500 in GM Visa points after taxes = $1327 before tax off the $35,100 = $33,773
I also traded in a car for $3500 (before tax) so final for me was $30,273.
I financed with GMAC at 2.5%/60mths
The only incentive given at the time by GM was $1000 Holiday Cash (included above)

If I bought it with cash or financed myself I could have received another $3500 off my pricing bringing the pre-trade, pre-GM card total for the car itself to $31,600.

Figuring in the trade and GM card value with the $3500 I COULD have paid $26,773.

The MSRP of my G8 V6 stood at 33 300$
(-) 6500$ cash credit
(-) 1000$ rebate as it's the showroom demo car (never driven though)
(-) 1000$ as I chose not to take the 3-year service
(-) 1500$ Visa GM points

So I paid 23 300$ + taxes (but I saved taxes on the sale of the car I traded in). Didn't have to deal much with the dealership, we're long-time customers and have friends there (Cloutier Pontiac Buick, Levis, QC).

So I paid 23 300$ + taxes (but I saved taxes on the sale of the car I traded in). Didn't have to deal much with the dealership, we're long-time customers and have friends there (Cloutier Pontiac Buick, Levis, QC).

So they really only took $1000 out of their profit. Not sure how it is out East but here in MB the dealers are discounting more just to get rid of the cars....

They only took about 1300 out of mine and my salesman is my step brother. I found out that the actual difference between invoice and MSRP on these cars is less then usual so that might be why they are not discounting heavily in easier to sell regions. I dont know about MB but I cant imagine a high powered RWD car is easy to sell at -20C... :P

Hi: My friend finalized the best price on a G-8 Saturday here in Toronto. Now he is going to approach Honda Finance to see if they'll budge on the buy back on the Accord from $13,600 to say $10,500 max. + Taxes, if they do not he is likely to buy the G-8 maybe as early as the next 10 days!! Here is the breakdown of the price:

MRSP $32.450+$1,525 freight $33,975+$2,475(1SB Option)= $36,700- $11,080(total Disc.)=$25,620+ $1,600(GMPP 5/160km's $100 deduct see below about price)=$27,220+$150.00 in misc. fees =$27,370 + Taxes total out the door $30,928 for a 1SB!

Have yet to neg. on 5/160,000km's GMPP ( Hopefully a $900 dollar disc. Based on $610 off the 5/100km warranty that a few of you have reported here as the 5/160 is $2,500 MRSP) what does everyone think of the price so far?

Sorry I havent had a chance to answer your PM yet Gearhead but I am having a hard time coming up with a good answer.

My thoughts:
Has your buddy driven the GT? Then again that might be a stupid question because I havent driven the V6. I dont know if I can answer about this objectively as the V6 was never a consideration for me.

Would I pay 31000 for a 1SB V6 G8? No. Why not? Well I would rather drive a 1SA GT then any V6 which is probably about 4k more.

I think this price of $25,620 looks pretty good all things considered but the price of the extended warranty seems high. There are others that know way more about the warranties available.

Just my 2 cents but hard for me to tell as I never considered a V6.

Well, I can tell you he's got a bit less than a 500$ margin left and I'm fine with that. The MSRP is already marked down a lot on these cars, just look at how much the Aussies pay for their Holden Commodores!

How did I do ?

:)
So, I ended up signing a new deal tonight.
Because the dealer cannot locate me a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT with 1SD package in Panther Black Metallic or Magnetic Grey Metallic.

I am ending up with a 2009 Pontiac G8 GT with 1SC package, in Panther Black Metallic with Black interior on the way
With all the dealer sourced add on's as before.

They reduced the price by $710 (the MSRP price difference between the 1SD & the 1SC package).
& reduced the price by $500, for my troubles.

So, I am looking at $32,690 Cdn + freight + fees & taxes.
That pricing also includes the dealer source add on's:
Rear bumper back-up sensors
35% front doors tint & limo tint on the rear doors/windows
Ventvisors window rainguards
3M clear bra on: front bumper, headlights, foglights, front edge of hood, front edge of front fenders, side mirrors, & door handles

So how does that look now ?

PS: I am also having them look into switching out the 245/45/18" all-season Goodyear Eagle RS-A tires for summer Bridgestone Potenza RE050A tires.
I will probably have to pay a little more for them though.

Local dealer down here is advertising 09's for $23,990, I'm assuming that's a cash price for a base V6.

What is the difference between 2009.1 and 2009.5 GT? How can I tell from vehicle?

Sorry, there are no new shipments of Pontiac G8's for this year.

So no 2009.5 are available in Canada.

What is left (on the dealer's lots & GM depot) is your choices to buy.
You cannot order a new car.

So how could you get a 2009.5 then?

And do they have any different?

Because the dealer I went to mistaken thought they could order me one.

When I asked for it.
& found out later that no more shipments are coming to Canada for the rest of this model year.

& could not get me a 2009 G8 GT with 1SD package in PBM or MGM in Canada.

Guess i should be glad i got my 1SD panther black when i did. Only had it for three weeks or so. I would have prefered the Maverick Silver Metallic what a hot car with the silver on silver. But i love my Black baby just as much. HIGH maintenance but it's a labour of love! This economic slowdown bull**** really sucks. The cars that will never be because of this and the ones that may go away! So sad:whine:
