Does anyone know the top speed for the L76/L98 powered V8 vehicles? The high res. picture of the G8 dash has the speedometer going up to 180mph.

And I found a clip on You Tube of someone in a 2007 Lumina SS going 235km which is 146 mph.

The highest number on the speedometer is usually a good indicator of a vehicles top speed. For example, the GTO's top number on the speedometer is 200, so the GTO should go 200 mph. Right? :nuts:


Actually, I believe the VE Commodore is speed limited at 250km/h (about 155 mph).

A good guess would be around 160-165 mph for the V8.

GM might govern it down.

My fbody was limited to 162 mph....I fixed that though. ;) I've had my car up to 145 mph when nobody was around and only I was in danger.

I have no doubt that the VE/G8 will hit 155 mph +

Personal top speed: 120MPH lol. But I'm sure it can go alot more then that.

Nice, I can't wait to get my G8. That Vauxhaull was an LS2 powered vehicle not L76/L98, but it's all good.

The VXR8 is limited to 155mph But mine has been Supercharged and the limit removed............

168mph in 5th with 500rpm to go on the rev counter is my fastest so far (checked via GPS), so I think 180mph is on the cards.

I noticed when tuning my 2007 VE SSV M6 Commodore with hptuners, there is a PCM speed limit set to 250kph.

Of course this can be disabled/increased for those interested in testing beyond that! (On a designated track of course) :D

155 mph would probably be top speed enough for me.....

250 kph pretty much is 155 mph
