: G8Board.com - New Header - Origins
DevilYellow 07-18-2007, 09:35 PM To grow from the LS1GTO.com site I wanted to start taking this site in a new direction. Also to start the uproar that is about to be unleashed I wanted to re-tingle everyone's tastebuds. The sketch that occupies our newly designed banner was drawn in November 1999. It was drawn with pencil and marker and not on the computer. Peter Hughes was given a half day to take the very rough sketch from Michael Simcoe and transform it into the first sketch of what turned into the Holden VE Commodore, and eventually our Pontiac G8.
jkgmh 07-19-2007, 02:04 AM Looks great... :iagree:
chiefpontiac 07-19-2007, 09:29 AM The high-rising side crease tends to remind me of a TR-7 and a car that looks like its running downhill while sitting still. Your site, your choice, but at this stage we know exactly what the car looks like, no changes. This sketch might have had more place prior to Chicago. But that alone won't keep me away.

Its at least something different and new to talk about. What are we going to do? Sit and look at the same dozen photos for another 2 months? As things progress we will be at the fore front, but I do want to get more into the car which we can do by looking at the aussie side of the story.
Cool_Hand_Luke 07-19-2007, 12:56 PM I like it.
Noticed it as soon as I logged in. Change is good.

Like I said the new header won't chase me away, in fact now thinking about it - just becasue we are being strung out for several months more by GM (possibly no RPOs until October) gives us more incentive to think about how we would have done things different if our names were Lutz and Wagoner.
ttamrettus 07-20-2007, 12:37 PM I like the new header also. I have to tell you of the G8 boards I have found this one is the best. I know where I'll be hanging out.
CMNTMXR57 07-23-2007, 12:02 AM I don't care for the font of the "G8BOARD.COM" It's somewhat difficult read. When I firts saw it, I read it it as "GREAT BOARD" for some reason.
ttamrettus 07-23-2007, 08:57 AM I think the problem is the brackets. I had to do a double take when I first saw it also.

Yeah, I agree and had the same problem. I was asking myself "Wait, what does that say??"
DevilYellow 07-23-2007, 01:46 PM The next design will have the same font (but filled in more).
Smoke 07-25-2007, 01:45 PM I like it. Sounds like the new and improved will be even better. Can't wait!!

I agree. The font and brackets are messing with my head. Even though I know what it's supposed to say I'm seeing LG8BOFIRD. I do like the sketch.
kbaba 08-03-2007, 07:02 PM The new G8 is from a TEN year old sketch? No wonder the the "real" car looks dated - can't they work-up something a little more fresh?

No - it just takes that long to design, engineer, and produce a car. The sketch was drawn before one part was engineered and the production o the commodore started a year ago.
