O.K. It's 90 degrees out there, I'm sweating, my biggest problem with the car is keeping the pollen off it, so not sure why my head is going to winter wheels and tires. I've been on the tire rack site and visited local store. Conflicting info on whether 17 in wheels would fit over the brakes. 17 in wheels would certainly reduce cost of winter tires. Am I correct in assuming that 17 x 8 with 40 - 48 offset is minimum I should be looking for. What range will fit the G8 and what wheels from other vehicles will work? I know that BMW 5 x 120 should also fit the G8 provided the offset is O.K. Just looking for an efficient and cheap winter option......thinking ahead! Thanks for any advice.

Based on our measurements, we're guaranteeing (SP?) 17x7.5 ET40 and a 235/55R17. Wheels will start off around $ 107

why not just stick with the 18's, they will fit, and are going to be easier to find.

17 inch wheels will rub on the strut tower brace unless the offset is 40 or smaller. I attempted to install my GTO wheels with a 48 offset and they rubbed. Had to use spacers at least 3/16 inch to clear. Only wanted to know this so I could use one as a temporary spare.

+48 with an 18" minimum wheel. He's talking about a 17", which has different clearances.

17" will definately fit over the G8 calipers. We have a wide range of winter wheel and tire packaged available for the G8. They are not on the site now because it is summer. But if you want to get a jump just give us a call.

Will that size fit over the front caliper as well?

I'm thinking of a cheaper wheel for us as a spare as most folks are selling stockers (w/tire) for almost $500.00 + shipping...

I definitely had a rubbing issue when I put a 17" +48 GTO wheel on the front of my G8. There is a triangular brace on the strut tower the the lip of the wheel touches. An 18" wheel with a +48 offset clears this brace. I would imagine that a 17" rim with a +40 offset would also fit. The GTO wheel fits just fine on the rear.

Does anyone know what the smallest wheel that will fit on the REAR?

Concerned with rear only.

Why rear only? You really need to run snows on all 4 corners, not just the rear. You want to turn and stop as well as go! I'm guessing it's going to be 17".

For slicks or drag radials.

Instead of starting a new thread I just piggybacked onto this one.

I want two wheels for drag radials.

So this doesn't happen----> :gears:
