Has anyone talked to their dealer about getting their name on a list for G8's. I mean are some dealers taking your name and you're first in line for the car when it gets there?
I was just wondering if any dealers are doing this?

I work at a Pontiac dealership and have had no one ask, but if someone put some money down, I don't see why not. It will be a lot easier in the next month or two when we have options and pricing though, hopefully sooner. The G8 is the only 08 Pontiac we don't have pricing on yet except maybe one other, without looking.

I stopped at a Pontiac dealer about a month ago and left my name with a saleman. He had zero information.

And even when the info is up on dealerworld the salesman will still have no info. You'll have to point it out to him.

Me too. Before we could order the GTO there was a waiting list at my dealership about a dozen people long fighting over what looked to be three to five cars. I put down "first-right-of-refusal" money in January '03 and actually placed the order in July '03. Doesn't seem to be the same excitement about the G8. Sure hope that it sells well once it does arrive.

Maybe that means there'll be less dealer gouging on the price. :secret:

It will sell. The auto reviews for the Vauxhall versions have been great. Pontiac is not making the same marketing blunder with the G8 that they did with the GTO. They wisely dropped plans to call it the new Grand Prix and are using a new modern platform. The Monaro was pretty dated and then they put an icon badge on it like GTO. It had the right engine, just not enough "boy racer" looks to live up to that name. I wonder how difficult it would be to supercharge the G8? :mullet:

Very simple, just bolt on the blower. No where near as complex as a turbo build.
