: G8 Gt 0-60
DevilYellow 07-25-2007, 01:41 PM I stumbled upon this tidbit. I believe the internal 0-60 test for GMNA has yielded a 5.5 second 0-60 on the GT. Little less than a second slower than an LS2 GTO with 38 more HP and 2 less doors.
The V6 is at 7.5 seconds.
Cool_Hand_Luke 07-25-2007, 01:54 PM Sounds interesting.
I wonder what a little tweaking would yield.
ToneyTone 07-25-2007, 03:32 PM I think thats a bit slow for the v-6 but the v-8 times sound good enough from GM.
chiefpontiac 07-25-2007, 05:40 PM 5.5 will feel much much quicker than my 03 GXP at 6.8, but 7+ anything would feel like a slug.
Mike P 07-25-2007, 06:17 PM That sucks, I was hoping for a 5.1 or 5.2 0-60 time. I'm sure we can do better than 5.5
My 04 Comp G did 0-60 in 5.5 sec at it's best.

But that was with Mods: 3.4" pulley, Gatorback Belt, 180*, & MSP CAI I don't think accessory pulleys and thermostat alone will do much on this engine, but CAI and catback ought to do the trick.
DevilYellow 07-26-2007, 09:07 AM Again - these are GM tests, not inflated or inconsistent magazine tests.
I do not know the weight of the timing hardware, but they do actually add weight to the cars when this test. However it would be the same test that produced the 4.6 0-60 for the LS2 GTO.

:err: The pulley he put on could get more performance out of the car than the CAI and catback put together.
Mike P 07-26-2007, 07:52 PM It's all good.....
rayainsw 07-26-2007, 08:29 PM I am ( somewhat ) encouraged by the C+D test of the ( 4000+ pound ) 2008 CTS.
With 304 HP – and a LOT less TQ than the G8 GT \ V8:
“Our 304-hp manual ran 0 to 60 mph in 5.8 seconds and blew through the quarter-mile in 14.6 at 97 mph”
This suggests to me that the GT, even with automatic, will be significantly quicker than the Caddy.

Waiting oh so patiently for ‘real world, independent test numbers’ on a GT – that look now ( based on the timing of this & other pre-production tests of GM’s new CTS, due at Dealers in a month or so ) like they will not be released until at least into November . . .

italiastraps 08-01-2007, 09:06 PM Looking forward to seeing the real #'s too. If its close, I may consider trading in the GTO...we'll see :)
Gee Eight 08-02-2007, 09:29 AM Using the age old racer's rule of thumb....every 100 pounds or every 10 hp equals .1 seconds and 1 mph.
Soooo-ooooooo....60 more HP and about the same weight of 4000 lbs should net a 1/4 mile of 14.0 @ 103 mph. As you stated....more torque from the V8 so it may break into the high 13's.
We shall see!!!
Mike P 08-02-2007, 04:48 PM Hopefully even faster than that, did you see my other thread about a VE Commodore running a 13.46 quarter mile?! Here's the link......

Gpdan 08-04-2007, 03:53 AM I read in Car and Driver that the Commodore did 0-60 in 5.3 seconds. Thats with the an american driver too who was not used to shifting with his left hand.
menace 08-06-2007, 09:12 AM 13.46 isn't quick enough? pfft come on guys...

Nobody said 13.4 isn't quick. I really hope the car is capable of 13.4 bone stock. If so, CAI, exhaust and tune and I'm in the 12's. :secret:
jkgmh 08-06-2007, 08:02 PM 12.6 1/4 time from OTRCAI, exhaust and tune in Oz...
