I love my car... really I do but...
The breaks suck. I mean they are plenty powerful, they have decent modulation and they don't squeal but...
Why do I have to push my foot into another zipcode to get them to engage?
It feels like I have the levers set to the wrong setting on my sportbike. Way too much lever take up then, whoa there it is. I find myself stopping with my nose 6-8 inchs further into intersections than i meant to.
Any suggestions as to how to fix this? It does not seem to be a pad or rotor issue.

Just a guess, maybe you've glazed the pads? No idea really, as the brakes on my GT are exceptional. Have your local service dept check them out?
As I said, there is no problem with the power... it is just that there is way too much pedal travel IMHO. Not specific to my car. I have driven 6 different ones and they are all the same.

retrain your brain to push further on the brakes. I was confused at first too and after having the car for almost two months, I'm used to it now.

The brakes might break...lol

every car is different. my GMC Sierra was even worse than my G8 with pedal travel before the brakes kick in. so the G8 seems great to me :)

I just put new pads and rotors on my Grands Prix and they feel completely different than my old ones, time will take care of that though.

I was braking late when I first got my G8. I'm completely adjusted to it now. I tend to be easy on brakes though. My G6 had 60,130 miles on the stock pads when I traded her in.
Someone has suggested SS brake lines. Check the Jeg's web site perhaps.
You think that's bad... try the GTO's
That why I didn't buy one.

Huh, the brake pedal travel feels completely normal to my foot.

Its not crappy parts, its just where the pedal travel was designed in. Its not a big deal, once you have driven a thousand miles or so, you get used to it, and everything is fine.
When I first bought my toyota (last car), I was used to driving a GM (oldsmobile). I almost put myself through the windshield a few times with the toyota, because the pedal was on right away. It took about 3 weeks before I didn't notice the difference anymore. of course, when I drove anything else, I had to adjust, so I didn't hit people in traffic.

mines the same way. I noticed myself braking kinda late when I first got my G8 until I got used to it (more pedal travel needed than my previous car a Mazda6). Once you get settled in for a few weeks it'll become natural. I will say, the brakes on these cars are quite exceptional, and now that I'm used to it I actually prefer the longer pedal travel, as it allows the ability for more controlled/precision braking and none of those "oops" nosedive incidents, what are these - 12.8" rears and 12.6" front rotors? awesome for factory!
