Has anyone come up with a way to disable the auto headlight feature yet? I don't like having my lights come on everytime I'm in the garage especially since I'm going to be getting an HID kit. I dont want to wear down my bulbs too quick.

just click the light dial over to the left, that turns em off...

Check to see where the DRL fuse is. I don't know what number it is, but someone must have posted that by now.

For DRLs, pull fuse 21 or you can remove relay R11. Both are located in the Instrument Panel fuse block.

To disable the auto headlights, I'll have to dig into it a bit further. For G8's with manual HVAC, they use an ambient light sensor with a 5V reference voltage which comes from the Body Control Module (BCM), through the two pin harness connector at the sensor itself, and then to ground. It seems if the sensor is disconnected, then the headlights will be commanded on. On an AUTO HVAC system, they refer to the sensor as a Sunload sensor. It's the same sensor, at the same location, wired into the BCM. However the HVAC system uses it a low reference signal, so messing with it could cause problems. More research needed.

When you click the switch to the left it sends a ground signal to the BCM. You could do a permanent ground for that wire but that would disable all auto-headlight funcionality (entry/exit lighting also). Unless someone knows how to hack the BCM to turn this feature off, I don't see any other way.

I'm pretty sure the OP meant DRL's, not auto head light function.
Pretty common mod to kill the DRL's.

Turning off DRL can be done from the switch...

I thought about that, but you'd have to confirm that having that signal set to ground would not prevent the headlamps from operating completely.

With DRLs disabled, but the sunload sensor still not seeing light (like being parked in a dark garage), it will most likely turn the headlamps on full, and then turn them off once outside as the reference voltage changes. For example when I unlock the car from the fob at night, the headlamps automatically come on, however during the day they don't do that even though my DRLs are still enabled after going with HIDs.

is there a way to get the fog lights to come on as the daytime drving lights??

I already have the DRL's taken care of just pulled the fuse. I know u can just turn the switch to the left and turn them off but I dont want the lights coming on at all unless I want them to not just because its dark.

The DRL relay splices into the LO-Beam headlamp harness at Junction 100. One way to do it would be to take the ground control wire that the BCM uses to manage the relays and simply switch it from the DRL relay to the FOG relay. That way you could still control the fogs by rotating the headlamp switch full counter-clockwise. The BCM controls all of lighting relays (FOG, DRL, LO, HI). The BCM provides the ground path to B+. I would perform the swap at the BCM if possible, because the DRL relay is in the IP Fuse Block, while the FOG relay is located in the under hood fuse block. This is just after a very quick pass of the schematics. The BCM is located next to the brake pedal assembly, under the dash.

Does Alldata have the wiring harness uploaded yet? Also, i think the white light needs to go, replace it with a yellow (plasma) anybody know the part number??

We don't have them yet - we usually work out of Helm and not the Delco site.
