Nice, wish it was true...

Not that different really. Front end looks almost like what the GXP is getting and the spoiler is an OE Holden spoiler that was deleted at the last minute. All the magazine did was photoshop a pontiac grille on the holden, and that's practically all Pontiac did also ;)

I'm really thinking about getting the SS VE spoiler. It just adds a lot of character to the car that I think its missing. They went aggressive on the hood and not on the back. Not that I'm complaining, I think the rear is fine, I just personally want more.

IMHO the spoiler is too "boy racer"-ish. Which was the problem with many Pontiacs of the recent past with all their scoops, wings and cladding. I'm glad they went without it as standard. I don't see why it isn't at least a dealer installed option for those that like the look.

I like the actual G8 front better. The MT front suffers from too little presence, just like the GTO. The actual front has a bigger, taller grill nostrils, more swagger IMHO

I agree. Currently, the car looks "refined". I am just embracing my inner boy racer, so I want a wing ;)

As far as the spoiler, I read where we were originally supposed to have the SS-V spoiler, like the one shown, but Father Bob decided he wanted the G8 to have a more understated agressivness about it. I think the quote was in the May Motor Trend article about the GXP.
I do have a 4 page photo ad from a magazine showing the G8 with the SS-V spoiler. I wonder if it will become a collector's item? LOL!

The hood looks like its from a G5/cobalt IMO

After the main complaint with the GTO being the bland styling, I think GM purposely wanted the front of the G8 to be more aggressive.

:iagree: So what if they don't work, they break up the blandness of a flat hood.
IMO, the G8 front end styling is much better than the Commodore. The split grille on the GTO looks better than the Monaro as well, IMO.

However, I have seen a hybrid front facsia that has the lower Monaro HSV front, with the outboard, mini stacked foglights, with the GTO split grille, and that, my friends, is pure sex!

Yeah, the article where GM Design wanted to put the SS-V spoiler on there but Maximum Bob told 'em "how many BMWs do you see driving around with wing spoilers?".

Answer: About as many as I see driving around with hood scoops. GIMME MY SPOILER

PS, after seeing the G8, every other VE looks really, really plain with the flat hood. The only exception is the W427 which is ridiculous enough without them.
