: Tint in Aurora/Naperville?
Does anybody here have experience or recommendations for a place to get windows tinted in the Aurora/Naperville Area by the Fox Valley Mall?
I did a search and found these places:
1. Express Auto Glass, Ogden Avenue, Naperville
2. Riggs Brothers Tops & Interiors, N Aurora Rd, Naperville
3. ZTech Auto Window Tinting, Ogden Avenue, Naperville
The website with the most specialty towards auto window tinting seems to be ZTech.

I dont know if they are still there, but my wife's altima was done at the place acrossed the street from gerald nissan on ogden. It still looks awesome. It was next door to windwalkers (or windtalkers) chopper dealer which is now closed.
Hope to see you around....Im in Oswego and work in Aurora. Just bought mine yesterday.
OOPs Just realized that you listed the place---Z-tech
CMNTMXR57 06-18-2008, 12:42 AM The Express Auto Glass is probably one of my recomendations.
Dave who does it there has been doing it for 20, well, more than 20 years now and has done every car I own/owned including my GTO. He's also done countless GTO's from our local GTO group from my recomendation as well as many F-Body's & Vette's from my recommendation.
He isn't always the cheapest, but he uses the best, non-degrading metallic impregnated tint, and stands behind his work. I had issues with the tint on my Aurora years ago (nothing he did), and he replaced it without question.
xtremeaudio44 06-19-2008, 04:54 PM I got my Subaru done at B&M Auto Accessories that used to be in Kendall Point near Modern Muscle off of Ogden. They since moved next to Caterpillar off route 31 next to Toby Video and White Eagle Auto Body. They did a great job and used a metallic tint that looks perfect. I went with 35% in front and 20% in the rear.......good combo. It was $275 which was 7 windows total.
Thanks for all the recommendations. I'll check them out.

Maybe I'll see you sometime on the commute. I usually take orchard to indian trail, drop off my wife, and then take eola to Liberty St. But sometimes I just take 30 to 34 to Commons. 7:30-8am.
CMNTMXR57 06-23-2008, 12:14 AM You don't happen to work for MetLife over there on Commons? I worked there a few years back, hated it.

Nope. Consulting Civil Engineering firm by Liberty and Commons.
I took my car over to the firestone today over by Fox Valley Mall outlots. Picked up a nail in my tire. But here is the back story, first week with my car I picked up a large diameter wooden stake through the back right tire. It is so large they can't even fix the tire over at Firestone. So I get a new tire, which isn't cheap the first week with the car. Since then it has been losing about 10 psi over every two to three weeks, so I take it in today thinking the seal was bad on the new tire. Apparently I picked up a nail in the SAME FREAKING TIRE. They fixed it for free, which was awesome.
I noticed your tag says West Chicago or Elgin. I have worked on various civil engineering projects for both cities.
West Chicago: Small traffic studies, stop signs, traffic calming in Cornerstone Lakes subdivision, etc.
Elgin: Traffic signal design for State & Wing that will be constructed soon, currently working on corridor study to widen US 20 from Randall out to Plank, and also working on widening Highland Ave from Randall to McLean.
CMNTMXR57 06-23-2008, 11:39 PM I worked for MetLife over there for a while. :(
Pretty much grew up in West Chicago and was there until October 2005 when I got married. We bought a house here in Elgin. However, my shop and family still are in West Chicago.
Are you doing the traffic studies for West Chicago around the Washington St. train crossing? They've been assessing the possibility of making the UP West line go over Washington St. similar to County Farm Rd. over in Wheaton.
Those other ones here in Elgin would be nice... They're both not to far from me.
My previous employer was a subconsultant to the firm that did the analysis of Washington Street over the RR. All we did was the traffic counts, basically just the data collection, and the prime consultant, Patrick Engineering, did the rest of the study. The last I heard the project wasn't going to happen, but that was a year or two ago, and decisions on infrastructure can change quickly since they are very politically and funding driven. I have since changed employers. I don't know what the current status is of that project is. I could probably talk to the Director of Public Works and find out since we are both Iowa State grads.
xtremeaudio44 06-24-2008, 11:14 AM Small world.........I work for Patrick Engineering, except on the electrical engineering side. What dealers did you guys get your GTs from? All of the ones I have been dealing with seem to think charging over MSRP is cool. I hear about all these people getting invoice or $500 over invoice except they seem to be non existent when I search.

Oh, no doubt there. :D The one thing that has helped this along over time is the fact that, despite WC having a west side fire station, in the event of a major fire, the main FD is cut off (due to a serious delay to go around the tracks) if a train should be going through on the UPW line. If a train is going down the EJ&E tracks, they're completely fubared (their only option is to go all the way south to 38 or all the way north to 64 to get around it). So that would be a huge liability to the town should something ever happen in some of the emerging business/industrial parks in the southwest corner of the city.

I had been working with a guy who works at Haggerty in Villa Park (or Lombard?) but I decided to go with ignition orange and they had already used all of their 08 tagging. He sometimes comes on this board, his username is cOPPEr or something like that. He is a GTO enthusiast and has a copper color GTO. He was trying to get the G8s out at invoice, but he is a sales guy and takes his orders from above. He couldn't manage to get any other dealer in this area to trade him an orange G8 GT for a different color G8 GT, they were just that hard to come by. He knew he pretty much had a sale but couldn't get the car to the dealership. I don't know what they were marking up other colors at. He was very knowledgeable about the G8, having owned another Australian made Pontiac. I would recommend working with him.
I went to Gjovik in Sandwich because they had an ignition orange in stock and weren't marking them up ridiculously like the Naperville dealership. I did pay a markup, but I wanted the color badly and it is discontinued for 09. Between the conquest cash and the GM Card earnings, I think I payed $500 over sticker after the other discounts. It sucks that I paid over sticker; But in my opinion, totally worth the color I wanted. What made the deal was they bought my wife's car for about $1000 more than the going rate is in this area and wrote a us a check. I thought they put in the extra effort to get my sale and would recommend checking them out as well.

That reminds me of another thing I did for the Fire Chief. At my previous employer, I put together a package for the WC fire chief for what effort I thought it would take to get a signal on IL38 at at existing intersection permitted through IDOT for a potential fire station nearby. I think they decided not to pursue that specific property. Right before I left, they were considering another firestation that had direct access to IL38 and wanted a fire station signal on IL38. Haven't heard anything since I left but that engineering is probably staying with my former employer.

Sorry about the threadjack. I think I'll try and stick with Gjovik, my parents bought theirs from there and got a good deal. It's BS with marking up over MSRP but I guess they figure if the market is there then why not even if the rest of their lineup isn't so great. I'm looking for a loaded Metallic Gray which is hard in itself to find so that seems to give them the incentive to markup. I'm beginning to think all these people paying invoice or $500 above invoice is not possible for me. Might have to stick with the Subaru a bit longer.

Buenrostro? (I may be wrong in the spelling of his name)
He could be a real PITA when he wanted to be. :( I think I know where they wanted it. Over by where JelSert is now just off 38 (before the Fabyan/Washington St. intersection).

I was ready to walk out of Gjovik because I figured I could just wait until the end of 09 and get a different color, but they did go as low as the Fifth/Third % table went for financing. Between that, the conquest cash, gm card, and buying my wife's car, I figured it was a good enough compromise. But if they're not going to discontinue your color, I recommend you hang in there with the SUBE and wait for sticker.

Could be him, I don't remember his name. Only talked to him twice on the phone and he seemed fairly appreciative that we were helping him for free:rolleyes:, until they selected a site. It was south of 38 on Town Road. He wanted a signal at Town and IL38. If they put it in, the City wanted to rebuild Town Road from 38 up to the culvert south of West Forest Avenue.
CMNTMXR57 06-26-2008, 10:13 AM That would seem dangerous to me at that location! Just passed the EJ&E overpass...

Woody on in elgin....Best car buying experience I ever had....RJ was my sales guy and they have valet service...drop a car off to you and pick yours up...
Please give them a try....Tell they Norman Martin with the srt jeep sent you. They will know who I am.
CMNTMXR57 06-26-2008, 10:58 PM Woody refuses to deal on cars despite Woody's boastful ads on the radio.

WOW! I absolutely cannot believe that. I had a wonderful buying experience from start to finish. Community pontiac in tinley park refused my Military discount......I was very unpleased and walked right out the door. I would have purchased it from if it were not for this.
CMNTMXR57 06-28-2008, 07:37 AM I've tried, many other on here have tried, several people on LS1GTO.com have tried, and he refuses to move, even on used cars. They've have/had a low mileage '04 Barbados Blue GTO sitting on their lot for some time. A member on LS1GTO expressed interest on it, so I went to check it out for her (She's in Pennsylvania), and the car is in "average" condition at best despite the low mileage. Woody won't come down off the $19k price they have. One may be lucky to get $19k for a GTO in mint condition, certainly not one in "average" condition.
Well after refusing her offer, she ended up buying an '05 QSM up in Massachussets I believe.
