just got it done today. im pretty happy with the setup. not loud inside the car at all, but sounds pretty nice from the outside. DOD isn't annoying, but you can hear when it kicks to 4 cylinders.

let me know what you think :)

it was recored with a normal camera, so it loses a little sound quality. it sounds a lot better in person.

Thanks for the video! I'm surprised that you don't have to get on it to sound mean!

It sounds pretty good, but i dont like the way it sounds at the end of the reving when the car is idling. It sounds a little sloppy/distorted. But other than that, when driving it sounds really good "Mean."

How does it sound in the interior when the AFM kicks in?

nah, its not bad. i had been driving around with just the magnaflow axle-back for about a week before installing the x-pipe. after installing the x-pipe, i thought DOD would be a lot more noticeable but it really wasn't.

i drove it to work today (20 miles on the highway) and the DOD didn't bother me at all. ya, you can hear the change in tone a little. if you have your radio turned up at all, you cant hear it.

VERY NICE SOUND!!! Question though. Why is it that the G8 that i test drove cranks up quiet but every G8 i see with an aftermarket muffler always cranks up so loud? Does the muffler make the car do that?

This may sound wierd, but i have taken a liking to cars that crank quietly(please dont ask me why, even i dont know), especially new ones since new cars usually crank up quietly. A car that cranks loud sounds a lil aged and/or abused to me.

What do you mean, cranks loud? Are you talking about the starter noise? If so, that sounds perfectly normal to me. It has a gear reduction starter, and a big V8 to turn over. The reason it's a little louder is the gear reduction part which makes for a better starter. I know back on the LT1 vehicles, the Nippon Denso starters were the best you could get, and us Caprice/Impala guys would transplant them over. My buddy at work was the first one, and I followed him and let the community know ages ago. Not sure of the brand used these days, if it's a Delco or what not - but that sounds perfectly fine to me.

Hell Yeah the starter noise!

So if all that is true then why is it the G8 GT that i test drove started so quiet??? It didnt start "toyota" quiet but a lot quieter than the G8 on the video.

Cause you were inside of it? I've drove three G8 GT's and have listened to a bunch of videos, this is what they sound like. The only thing I would say is, the G8 GT cranks over just a tad slower, and that could be due to the longer starter cable for the positive side terminal, due to the battery being located in the trunk. My car sounds exactly the same while cranking, exhaust or not. Once it fires up, it's a different story tho.

Hmmm. every car ive driven sounds almost exactly the same cranking, inside and out. That must mean that the G8 has some of the lil sound blocking whatchamacallits in the doors and stuff, just like buicks and other luxury cars have. I like that!!! But so much for me thinkin that every new vehicle has a smooth crank sound to it.

As you can see, i havent owned very many new vehicles.
