: V6 Pricing and payments
cw0802 06-19-2008, 08:20 AM I'm slowly approaching being in the market for the G8 V6 and am curious what others paid for their V6 and the montly payments? Did you buy or lease?
Thanks guys...i browsed this forum and think it's full of some helpful information.
sonnyg08 06-23-2008, 11:24 AM i bought the v6 and im paying 549.14 a month for 6 years. the price of the car was $28,900
cw0802 06-23-2008, 01:50 PM Wow...straight loan? Did you put anything down or have a trade in?
I'll likley have $2000 on trade in, $4000 down and plus $1000 on GM credits from my GM Card.
b
Solrac 06-23-2008, 02:28 PM i financed on 26,990 and pay around 450 a month
cw0802 06-23-2008, 03:45 PM i financed on 26,990 and pay around 450 a month
Complete base? or did you have the sound and comfort package?
Its Gr8t 07-01-2008, 03:51 PM i bought the v6 and im paying 549.14 a month for 6 years. the price of the car was $28,900
Whoa. I'll be looking to put down about $15K, which is what I saved by paying off the 2004 GP early.
h3llphyre 07-01-2008, 04:52 PM i bought the v6 and im paying 549.14 a month for 6 years. the price of the car was $28,900
Wow, I bought a GT and am paying about $30 more a month... You must have got hosed on interest rates. I financed the entire thing (they washed my tradein)
Solrac 07-02-2008, 09:24 AM no, fully loaded v6 but which came out to 31k but i put 5k down...
mikemaj82 08-26-2008, 09:53 AM i bought the v6 and im paying 549.14 a month for 6 years. the price of the car was $28,900
what?! That's $39,538!!
menace 08-26-2008, 10:06 AM How does it work in US? Can you put extra payments in? Or are they fixed payments?
BarryMClark 08-26-2008, 11:12 AM How does it work in US? Can you put extra payments in? Or are they fixed payments?Depends on the loan. In my case, I can make as many payments as I like and pay it off as fast as I like so long as I meet the minimum payments.
BarryMClark 08-26-2008, 11:12 AM what?! That's $39,538!!
Yeah.... that is common. That is where the money is.
mikemaj82 09-02-2008, 12:24 AM Yeah.... that is common. That is where the money is.
common? that's absurd. who would pay that? honestly?
BarryMClark 09-02-2008, 07:50 AM common? that's absurd. who would pay that? honestly?
That's how the banks make their money. Nearly everyone who buys a car does so throgh a loan and therefore pays far more than the car is tagged for the end of the loan. Honestly, only the last couple of years do you pay against the principle unless you have been overpaying the whole time.
I think at the end of mine it comes to about $35k although the out the door price was $28k. I plan on overpaying... but if I don't or can't for some reason, I am paying $35k at the end of it all.
gr8t gt 09-02-2008, 11:26 PM i bought the v6 and im paying 549.14 a month for 6 years. the price of the car was $28,900
That's an APR of about 11%!!!
BarryMClark 09-03-2008, 06:34 AM That's an APR of about 11%!!!That's not uncommon these days. Right now, 'special' rates if you have great credit are 7.9 for 6 years. If you have terrible credit... then you are looking at 14%-15%.
blkout 09-03-2008, 05:59 PM After everything got mine for about 21900 that is after 5200 trade in and 3000 down sound and comfort pack with sunroof . I pay 411 a month for 5 years not too bad....
Galleon1235 09-03-2008, 09:07 PM I purchased mine for 30k even and then had 4k trade in. I got an interest rate of 5.31, which is what I thought was pretty good on a five year loan. I have excellent credit with a 796 score. My payment turned out to be 585.00 after TTL and adding on gap insurance and few other odd and ends. I would really shop the interest rates before I went into the dealership. I was already pre-approved for this rate before I went there, so I sort of knew a ballpark figure.
daddydjl 09-23-2008, 10:08 PM I'm picking up my new 08 G8 V6 on 9/25, base car out the dealer door for $19,817. Went in to test drive a Vibe GT for my wife and got a G8 V6 for $1200 more
Slizzo 09-23-2008, 10:12 PM Wait, what? $19k? How?? :)
briandors 09-24-2008, 11:09 AM I'm picking up my new 08 G8 V6 on 9/25, base car out the dealer door for $19,817. Went in to test drive a Vibe GT for my wife and got a G8 V6 for $1200 more
When you say "dealer"... are we talking a "car" dealer? :wink2:
incon3037R 09-24-2008, 02:47 PM i bought the v6 and im paying 549.14 a month for 6 years. the price of the car was $28,900
My GT fully loaded with red & black leather interior was priced for for 34,00 but I purchased it for 31,700 including all taxes, doc fees, etc.. And the dealer cut me a dealer hold back check for 700 to bring me to 31,000 even. Which brings my monthly payments to $530 a month.
J.Rod 09-26-2008, 12:08 PM I went in to look at numbers with the GM discounts being offered and this is what I was told:
2008 White hot GT with sunroof and leather (which ever that option is..heated seats, etc.) with $2000 down = $490/mo
I am very hesitant considering the depreciation these will have by the end of the year so I was wanting an 09 for the newer year and XM, but the sales rep made a good point that you get an extra $1000 off for going with an 08 vs. 09 and u can add the XM after but depreciation comes quicker.
Oh I am currently leasing an 06 G6 that ends in March and pay $320ish/mo. That payment would pay off the rest of the lease subject to inspection.
Please advise on whether this is a good deal or not!!
daddydjl 09-28-2008, 09:45 PM 08 pont g8 base magnetic grey msrp 27,595 gm employee discount 25,500 dlr discount down to 23,988 (8) $250 certificates dlr provided and $ 2,000 down pmt assistance through gmac w/ lease turn in and 170 gm credit card pts= out the door for $19,817.53
GTOJon 11-08-2008, 01:49 PM looking at some of the prior posts I see the price is all over the place.
I have a GTO now and am thinking about an 09 V6 G8 (sunroof/comfort&sound) with cloth interior. They are quoting me $28,500 out the door(which includes taxes, title etc). That seems high to me - I was thinking more like $25k out the door. I have until March so I will keep my eyes open.
GregC63 11-10-2008, 06:50 AM Bought a panther black V6 sedan with everything but leather seats Oct 1st, $29,290 sticker. Had a $500 trade in (Chevy Venture van with 263,000 miles on it LOL)
I get a GM discount which brought brought the whole thing to around $26,500 and got a 2.9% interest rate on a 60 month loan through GMAC. I rolled the taxes and what not into the loan. paying right around $510 a month.
Stacy_G 11-13-2008, 09:36 AM I just bought the base model 2008 and paid $22,393 before tax, title, & license fees. I financed for 6 years with a 6.9% APR for a monthly payment of $423.
LexG8 11-20-2008, 05:20 PM I bought a fully loaded g8 v6 at Gallager Buick-Pontiac in New Britian, Ct. I bought it for $27,000. Brand spankin new, with every option avaliable, Leather, sunroof, dual climate control, heated seats, 10 speaker sound system, i saved about three thousand on the car and i love it. The reason it was so cheap is because at first i was looking at a demo version with a few miles on it, he offered it to me at 27. i left to take a few days to think about it and they sold it so when i went back i just flat out told him i was not intrested on any other G8 unless the price was the same, it took a little **** talking but he folded. I drove out with a black, fully loaded Pontiac G8. I put $3,000 down and recieved $1,500 on a trade in which was a total of $4,500 down. APR at 6.1. my monthly payments are $400 even for six years. I love my car the attention I'm getting is crazy. One more thing am i the only one that thinks the wheels on the V6 model look so much more better that the Gt?
Nino@gaypontiac 11-22-2008, 10:21 AM With current incentives a V6 base can be purchased for 22,411 + TTL
That would make a 0 down loan on that car with great credit 400x72 :)
mikemaj82 11-28-2008, 02:36 PM I just bought the base model 2008 and paid $22,393 before tax, title, & license fees. I financed for 6 years with a 6.9% APR for a monthly payment of $423.
whooaaaa what!? $423/month for 6 years is $30,456!
Saginaw748 12-01-2008, 08:27 PM FWIW.....
I bought a 'leftover' V6, with most options (minus sun, and leather). I ended up with nearly $5k in rebates, and the OTD was just shy of $24k.
Bought it in Saginaw, Mich.
MNAchilles 01-10-2009, 05:59 PM Just bought a fully loaded G8 V6 with leather heated seats, dual climate control, remote starter, ignition orange. The car had 2,000 miles on it and I got it for $19,900. Put $1500 down and financed it for six years. My monthly payment is $380 with GAP insurance, $8 cheaper than my previous car which was an 06 Accord. This car kicks the Accords @$$.
I think I got a pretty good deal.
Heracles 01-11-2009, 08:45 AM Dont buy the V6 G8.
LexG8 01-11-2009, 07:59 PM Dont buy the V6 G8.
Don't buy a V6, Why Not? Let me guest your one of those dumb ass GT owners who thinks the world revoles around the GT. The V6 is a great car and personally love it and the women love it even more. So if anyone out there planning to buy a V6 i say go for it, you'll save at the pump and with insurance.
janet_1 01-13-2009, 10:48 AM my car came out 27,500 doing monthly payments of $459. not as bad
SantasG8 03-04-2009, 12:21 AM paid $22k out-the door. Traded in my '06 Scion tC for $13,000 (45k miles, needed new brakes and tires, was probably worth $11k). We financed at 4.5%APR on a $16,500 loan and paying $308.00/month. Dealership tried to sneak in about 2k worth of fees, but I was a @$$hole and kept them there late on the last day of the month. They finally caved and the car is freaking sweet!!!!
ScottyC 03-04-2009, 07:47 AM I picked up a loaded Panther Black V6 in December. With employee pricing I pay just shy of $500 for 6 years. It seems high, but the interest rate wasn't great (6.9%) and I turned in a lease with 12 months left on it (that wiped out all the rebates). Also put no money down except for a $500 transfer fee to get a black one from another dealer. Probably could have done better, but I stopped at the dealership to look at them with my wife, we ended test driving it and buying it right there.
UWmad 03-04-2009, 04:09 PM Thinking about picking up a 09' SRM GT V6 loaded with roof. Sticker is $31,9xx and they offered it up at $23,500 + TTL. Is this pretty good? Been doing a lot of quoting and this seems to be the best deal and the color I want. Really wanted the GT, but the extra cash for it and the little less mpg are steering me away. Can't justify it for a daily driver (30 miles one way to work). Should I pull the trigger?
Derekprz 03-04-2009, 08:25 PM My 2008 G8 V-6 with Comfort and Sound plus sunroof had a sticker of $29,290. She only had 16 miles on it and I put 8 of them on it during the test drive. After discounts and incentives my price was $22,200. before tax, title, and tag charges. I put a $4500. down payment and financed $19,554 after the tax, title, and tag charges for 72 months and pay $331.00 a month. I bought it 2 days into 2009 so that is probably why I got so many incentives. They even gave me money off because my wife drives a Mazda and I switched brands.

Go for it, that's what i did.
LiquidRedG8 03-04-2009, 10:10 PM I just purchased a loaded V6 (all options) with sticker of $31k. This was an early 09 car before they increased the base price ~$1000. If you option this car up today it will be $32k. That said, I dealt down the price to $29,500 before tax and trade. They gave me $3000 for a 2000 Bonneville trade. The car was worth $2700 according to KBB. I used my $3000 of GM Card rebate money, put down $5K and financed $20,711 at 0% for 5 years. My payments are $345. I felt it was a pretty good deal.
mdale007 03-07-2009, 06:44 AM Just before Christmas I traded in my wife's 1999 Honda CR-V for a Liquid Red base G8 for $17,300.00 before taxes. The Honda had $2,000.00 worth of body damage we never got fixed and the engine was misfireing due to the need for a complete new cylinder head.
psycho1000r 03-11-2009, 10:48 PM picking up my left over white 08 tommorrow. got it for 19950 :) their giving the 08 sedans away!
comes with sunroof and Comfort & Sound Package.
fenix 03-11-2009, 11:06 PM got mine out the door for 19k minus my down, it came out to like 305 for the next 5 years....guess i'm as good as married to it
Agreedy1 03-17-2009, 01:21 PM $378 a month for 6 years. Leather, sunroof and dual climate. MSRP 31,895. Paid $29,100 less, $235 out of pocket for DMV, $1,000 GM card, $1,000 lease to buy rebate and $3,500 trade for my 00 GP GT.
$235 Cash, my GP and thats all.

mhissticobra 03-26-2009, 07:40 AM I just paid $18,993 + tax and title for my 09 Black V6 with sound and comfort package and sunroof. It has 2092 miles on her because the one of the salespersons drove it back and forth to work for a couple of months. So it technically is not a "new" car but the price was good enough for me to pull the trigger. I currently have a 1997 GTP coupe with 245K on the clock so a trade in would have been nil, so I'm keeping it for my long drives and snowy days (FWD>RWD). I chose not to go the GT route because I already have a weekend warrior car (Vortech supercharged 1996 Mustang Cobra) that would pretty much destroy a GT anyway. You guys think I got a good deal on the G8?
allgood09gt 03-26-2009, 07:56 AM I got a GT no leather or performance package but i paid 24900 taxes and tags out the door
allgood09gt 03-26-2009, 08:00 AM i had a no trade in money either and didnt have any money down
Bobcat 03-26-2009, 03:55 PM $378 a month for 6 years. Leather, sunroof and dual climate. MSRP 31,895. Paid $29,100 less, $235 out of pocket for DMV, $1,000 GM card, $1,000 lease to buy rebate and $3,500 trade for my 00 GP GT.
Can I ask what interest rate they gave you? That seems about the payment I was thinking it should have been when I was looking at a 09 GT demo with 4k miles for 25k minus 1k trade-in. The stupid dealer wanted about 475/m for 72/m. I did'nt feel like arguing as he obviously did'nt want to negotiate. To me it sounded like either a 60/m payment or very high interest. There loss I guess, although I still want to look at a couple other cars that are just coming out, but if I could somehow get the 1.9% and the 5k discounts, I don't know...
allgood09gt 03-26-2009, 04:05 PM You cant have both.. they wont give them to you i took the the cash and pay high interest on my car but over time it was almost 3k cheaper taking the cash and making pmnts... if you get extra you can always pay more down that helps with the final pmnt amount..... so 0% pay sticker or 7% and pay i think rebates are like 7k... dont forget to ask the dealer how much dealer cash they have on them i think its like 4k plus the 3k in rebates... that was what i got on my 09 G8 GT but v6 could be diff unsure tho... Good Luck with your Purchase and consider the GT its a fun fun car!!
kmfescoe 03-26-2009, 05:41 PM 350 a month with extended warranty through 75000 miles, and 2500 down. Car is base model and was listed about 21000 w/ 15k miles on it.
nyrican813 03-26-2009, 05:58 PM Fight and dont be afraid to walk away I got offered a 2009 G8 fully loaded for $23,449 and a 2009 G8 GT for $25,073 OTD (I went GT) base GT of course but none the less a comfy nice quick GT dont be afraid to ask for dealer cash I had NO down payment or Trade in It can be done

I second that!!!! Just tell the dealer what you want and make them do it if they want the sale bad enough they will.... YOU WIN!!!

I took the 1.9 % financing for 72 months.
I got $3,500 for my trade and paid $1,000 below invoice.
My trade was a 2000 Grand Prix GT which needed tires, wheel bearings, a trans. and some body work. I shoped some other non Domestic dealers and was offered 1,000-2,000 for my trade.
If there is all this money in the back to dealers it must then be regional. I have shopped other dealers in NY and I can NOT see these cars at these prices that peopel in other states are getting them for. It seems to be in the IL area. Well, I didn't plan to fly to IL to buy a car and spend a week driving it home or $1000 to ship it.
I was also thinking of waiting for 2010 DI v6 to come out and see if GM offered to max my GM card earnings...then I may trade my v6 G8 for the DI v6 G8.
19 MPG city sounds good along with an extra 50 ponies:)
I live in NY, I wouldn't benefit enough for DOD in a V8 b/c the car is my DD and my average speed is 17 MPH. All the research shows DOD only works on highway speeds not a NYC City cycle:(
psycho1000r 03-27-2009, 05:58 PM yeh they're hurting right now, i went in and told them i had a price of 20500 on a loaded sedan, they beat it, only by 50 bucks though lol. used my gm card rebate for a 1000$ so i got it for 19450, brand spanking new G8 sedan with sunroof and sound n comfort package. deals are out there!
Agreedy1 03-28-2009, 06:48 AM what was the MSRP?
did you have the leather Prem Pkg (leather)
were there any miles on it?
Did you take the $3,000 rebate or 0.0 % / 1.9 % financing?
What is your interest rate and term?

msrp was 30,129, no leather, their was 30 miles on it, but it was new. i got all the rebates, plus my gm card rebate, 1000 was the max they would give me on that. i took the 3000 rebate and i financed thru my federal credit union for 3.99% for 60 month. they were trying to give me a hard time about using the FCU and getting the cash back from gm since i wasnt financing thru them, i dunno something about it being similiar to double dipping and normally couldnt do it. i basically told them if they didnt i would just buy the car at the other dealership.
the salelsman told me they dont know how the other dealership gave me the price they did. at that price they were losing money and basically " moving iron " off the lot, but its their policy to beat any price so they offerred 50 bucks less then the other guy.

cool - I took the low financing & saved on the sales tax, which is really high in NY.
psycho1000r 03-30-2009, 03:10 PM yeh isnt it like 8% up there? i sold my GTO so some kid from syracuse
mikemaj82 03-31-2009, 04:39 PM Are they still offering SmartBuys? I know that those lower the monthly payments a LOT. I got a SmartBuy on my 2006 G6 GTP coupe and the payments are $287. If I didn't take a SmartBuy they would have been over $400/month.
mikemaj82 04-07-2009, 04:30 PM anybody?
mikemaj82 04-15-2009, 07:24 PM okay dokay!
