: G8 Vs Nsx
JAWDRPNG8 06-19-2008, 01:12 PM CAlifornia freeway yesterday
NSX riding my tail....about to pass me.....He went wide open....tried to pass on right...
I floored it....from 70 mph to 137 mph open lanes..I had about 3 cars on him..before I let off
(top speed limitor)
He continued to run up to 155 or so...passing me ...I thought it was a good kill up to my top end
racerx 06-19-2008, 01:32 PM Nice.....i ate one of them STi's or WRX or whatever they are, he must have had all the bells and whistles....it sounded real nice too. we were stopped at a light, i egged him on and when the light changed green....both our tires where rippin.....had him off the line by a good 1/2 car...his turbo was SCREAMING! Couldn't catch up to me to save his life, i backed off at 100.
We came to the next light and it was on again....same thing...he just didn't have it...he stayed a good car length behind. mind you mine is all stock. No CAI, No, nothing. oh and i had about 100lbs of crap in the trunk, with a full tank of gas.
It felt good.
And i'd do it again.

Interesting. A 4WD Subie should have been able to leave on you. Must have been a driver like my co-worker; who refuses to perform a transmission-wrecking 6,000 RPM clutch-dump on his STI.

I agree, driver must have been babying the clutch. I own a Legacy GT and that awd will jerk you back in your seat.......of course top end is nothing compared to the G8 GT. I'm in the market now to get rid of my LGT and pick up a G8 GT. Nice kill
racerx 06-19-2008, 06:16 PM Well i don't know what he had...but I saw the guage cluster on the piller and i could hear the blowoff valve on the turbo, and he had a mean exhaust.....the guy was young...so who know's...maybe i just got lucky...hell, maybe he was just messing with me! Damn!
But, i'd still do it again. it was fun.
juanricos 06-19-2008, 08:44 PM Remember WRX STi > WRX. But they look almost identical. A G8 will eat a standard WRX easy. The car with all the bells and whistles is probably the poser car.

But those are stock specs, A modded sti will typically walk a stock G8...STIs responds to mods just as much as LS engines.
JAWDRPNG8 06-27-2008, 04:28 PM I beat an STI with an exhaust ..and BOV..could hear that daym thing at 65mph on the freeway...HE ROLLEd up on me....ridding my ass...came up to the right....
I floored it....held him off to 130 mph....now I didnt BLOW him away..but just with my CAI and flows...no other mods....I had him by a car and half...HE backed off at 130 ish..thank god...cause I know i was approaching the limitor..
and YA i know what an STI and WRX look like...he had the typical blue one with the big hood scoop pink STI stickers ..gold wheels...UGLY combo...IMHO..and the baby stroller wing in the back
at the track Wed night...and STi ...all stock mustered 14.1 ...i wanted to take a pic...with the white polish on his window...for all the STI fanboys out there.
14.1

Yeah, but Subarus *sound* stupid! :)
Who'd want to hear that all the time...

Gfrom8 08-03-2008, 02:04 PM Leave the modded sti's alone unless you wanna get embarrassed, the wrx's make for good races but you gotta watch out there are some fast wrx's. The subaru wrx's and sti's take to mods like a fish takes to water, a simple $1400.00 turbo upgrade and tune makes those cars run unbelievable. My buddy got one with an aftermarket turbo and he kicks my ass time after time! G8's usually launch at 1500 sti's can launch at 4000+ rpm.
Deuuuce 08-05-2008, 10:32 PM Interesting since the '98 and newer NSXs could run high 12s at 111mph and beat an LS1 C5 to 150mph....
Must have been an early production auto-tragic?

Yep it is interesting because numbers don't lie, until they do and the car you were pulling for is left in the dust.
As my friends from NY would say, not for nothing, but I have a friend who has an LT1 powered '95 Camaro that will beat just about anything.
Is it because he has hardly anything invested in the car? (less than 6000) and he is willing to "get on it" or is it because it's just FAST?
The world may never know. But I am sure YOU would never accept it.
blswan 08-06-2008, 10:49 AM Guys, I own a WRX with a factory power pack (exhaust, intake, short shifter) as well as a G8 GT. Sorry but the WRX will spank the non-modded G8 in a street race. On the highway or past 60mph, G8 starts to show the WRX who is boss. An STI however will whoop the G8 either way. Car and driver lists the 0-60 at 4.9 secs. The 5.4 secs is a WRX not an STI, Edmunds often get this confused. Stock quarter mile for the STI is 13.4 and most G8 owners have run mid to high 13s at best stock. Just my opinion. Back to the NSX?

That made absolutely no sense whatsoever.
And unless your friend runs 9s for the $6000 into that motor, it won't come close to "beat just about anything".

That NSX was probably a 3.0 liter 4-speed auto which is rated at a lower power. More like 250hp.
If it was a stock 3.2 NSX with 290HP the race would have been pretty much dead even since both cars have closer power to weight ratios.
For reference, I have a Maggied GTO with all sorts of mods and a Kenne Bell 2.1 NSX with similar supporting mods.

Both cars have similar power to weight ratios. The GTO has more power off the line, but the NSX will pull hard at 6K to 8200 RPMs, which makes it scary fast on the freeway.

Agreed.
