Are any of you who are putting or have put on aftermarket rims thinking of using aluminum rims. I beleive my stock 19's are aluminium (is this true?) and want to get an aftermarket rim in the same size but want to keep it aluminum to keep the weight of the car the same. I don't wanna lose any power or time cuz of a steel wheel. Are any of you doing the same?
I was thinking about going with a knock off 10 spoke M5 rim cause I think this car looks just like the M5 and would look sweet with that rim. Oh and I would put the pontiac logo on the center cap too.

Probably 99.9% of aftermarket wheels these days are aluminum. Your factory wheels are aluminum. Quite frankly, you'd have a hard time finding a 19 inch steel wheel that would fit the G8, so in all likelihood, any aftermarket wheel you choose will be aluminum. Now just because it's aluminum doesn't mean it'll be lighter than your factory wheel.
Keep in mind, there are two basic types of aluminum wheels: cast and forged. Your factory wheels are cast aluminum. If you want to reduce unsprung weight and cost is not an issue, then forged are typically lighter, but much more expensive. It's possible to find lightweight cast wheels, but you'll have to do your homework. The style that appeals to you may not be a lightweight wheel. Oh, and avoid chrome plated wheels as they tend to be heavy. Good luck in your search! :)

Thanks for the response, I did not know this. I don't want a chrome wheel cause I think the gun metal look it has now is cooler so i'll stay with this same color-style. Thanks again.
