: Late 2008?
appletonrc 08-04-2007, 10:43 PM So in the latest issue of Motor Trend, they have a list of all 2008 cars. In the description for the G8, they say late 2008. Have I missed something? I thought we would start seeing something late this year, early next year. Late 2008 would KILL me!:The_Villagers:
DevilYellow 08-04-2007, 11:20 PM Why would they release a 2008 Vehicle when 2009 models are coming out? Its a typo and meant for "Late 2007"
Mike P 08-05-2007, 02:07 AM I think it is a typo & they mean late 2007
appletonrc 08-05-2007, 09:06 AM Sure hope so. Now that I read it, it says "later in 2008" but that isn't much better. Sure hope it is later in 2007.
chiefpontiac 08-06-2007, 10:25 AM I don't think it is a typo at all. What they mean is that almost every other 2008 car being sold is already in full production, at least by this month, and expected to be on lots now or by Labor Day. "Late" in the model year to a magazine is simply "late" (we have seen so many conflicting reports from cars on the water in November to not arriving for retail until Jan/Feb)

You dont have to worry, the G8 is going into production within the next 2 months and the first sale able cars will hit your shores by January 2008.:secret:
appletonrc 08-08-2007, 10:28 PM Sure hope so. If it does get too late in the year, I may get a used charger and wait for the G8 GXP...

Did this include the strut issue or not? Don't want to bust bubbles, but would like to have an accurate idea of when to expect the car.
aussiefan 08-09-2007, 05:36 AM Ok I got some real info today.
The start of production for the G8 & G8GT is the 22 October 2007, first shippment to the US leaves in November and they go on sale mid to late January 2008.
The GXP goes into production September 2008.
I hope this information helps you guys from worrying to much.
Cool_Hand_Luke 08-09-2007, 07:05 AM Well, better late than never. (I don't mean that.)
Gm is just so slow and looks like they didn't give much thought about the US models because they should of been developed and crash tested with the Aussie models. This should of been addressed well over a year ago.
Gee Eight 08-09-2007, 07:39 AM Don't be too tough on GM. Remember the G8 show car went on display in what....January? That means that they're going to have the car on our shores in less than a year. That's not too bad considering that time includes shipping from Austrailia!!!!

The ONLY difference in this info from what was known before is that production starts in October instead of August. Even with a projected August date before they still did not plan on loading the boats before November. So nothing else in the timeline is any different, except for your "official" notice that there will be a GXP.
Cool_Hand_Luke 08-09-2007, 01:23 PM I'm interested about the GXP snippet.
If I'm going to wait this long I hope to get a GXP.
OzHolden 08-09-2007, 03:34 PM The January on-sale dates are probably only good for California and other west coast states. I wouldn't expect to see many back east until later, maybe even March or April.
Lucky me, I live in California :D.

3 months to get from CA to the midwest?! :The_Villagers:

Can you tell us where you got this information? I haven't seen anything but pure conjecture and speculation on a GXP model even existing and you already have a build date for it?
OzHolden 08-10-2007, 03:29 PM 3 months to get from CA to the midwest?!
The 3 month delay is only a guess on my part based upon how poorly GM did with the GTO intro, where they evenly distributed the cars across the country, and then sold out in California while they had sitting stock in most other places. I assume that GM is smart enough not to repeat that scenario, and therfore I suspect they will saturate the west coast with G8s before moving east into the snowbelt, especially since the G8 intro will be during the snowy winter months.
But maybe it's just wishful thinking on my part since I live on the west coast. :D
Mike P 08-10-2007, 05:16 PM Yea man, I want one ASAP! I need a black G8 GT headed for Coleman, Michigan. I don't care if there is snow, I'll still drive it.

Good excuse to fly to the west coast, have a holiday and pick up the G8 while you are there... :gears:
I live on the West Coast here in Oz and we get everything last..... :aus_flag:

As you should - aren't you still trying to secede from the rest of Australia ? :gr_jest: J/K
No, hang on, you guys have all the good resources - we need you...:aus_flag:

I heard the the 6-spd G8 GT will be available in September 2008. I heard the GXP was not going to be available (if even produced) until 2009/2010. :bunny:

Which 6-speed, manual or automatic. :stickpoke: :D

GM admits they made a mistake with the GTO, shipping them into snow country in the dead of winter so instead they plan a staggered release, satisfying everyone in LaLa land first before giving the rest of us our due.
r1owner 08-11-2007, 09:00 AM Interesting approach to transportation. This is slightly different in that it's a sedan.
ttamrettus 08-11-2007, 04:50 PM It doesn't snow here in the southeast (GA) what about us? :cursin:
I saw a 2008 Trailblazer SS on ebay already.
This G8 wait is TOUGH on me.:damnyou:

It's same thing here on the US west coast for most stuff, we get American cars or European imports last. It's only Pacific imports we get first.
aussiefan 08-14-2007, 08:05 AM Can you tell us where you got this information? I haven't seen anything but pure conjecture and speculation on a GXP model even existing and you already have a build date for it?
I can't say where I got the info from but what I can say is that I'm only a arm's length away from the main office. In the past I have helped out with a lot of good correct info on the GTO.

I think I can clear up some of the confusion here.
The G8 & G8 GT will be MY08 cars but start of production is in 2007 and the GXP will be a MY09 car but production for it will start in 2008 and at the moment the GXP is 100% a goer.
