: 12.70 @ 108
GRRRR8 06-20-2008, 03:50 PM It took some time to get all the parts, but it performed as expected. Stock 19in tires with 33-35psi, launch 1200-1400rpms = best 60ft was 1.91 with 12.70 @ 108. Worst time = 12.94 @ 107 2.06 60ft. Only made 2 passes due to air temp and track closing. I feel with headers and converter and Kirk "the magician" @ VMS this car on drag radials will run low12s or high 11s in cooler weather. Once I change the cam it will be a solid 11sec car. Charlie
Atlas 06-20-2008, 04:01 PM dayum, good show...
VectorMotorsports 06-20-2008, 04:06 PM Congrats! Way to stick that G8!
Mike P 06-20-2008, 04:45 PM Holy snap! 12's are very nice!
wreckwriter 06-20-2008, 04:50 PM Most of a full second under what others with the same mods are running. Pretty impressive.
G8GT594 06-20-2008, 05:09 PM Very nice run!

This is the second car with nearly the same mods with the same ET and almost the same trap that has been reported to us so far. I think this will be more the norm when people really figure out how to get these cars out of the hole.

That would be great, hope you're right. The only thing unusual I see on this car is the underdrive pulley. I've been trying to find out more about these.
JAWDRPNG8 06-20-2008, 06:42 PM Who had the other car....any time slips /video jus curious...not saying any one is eggaerating..but this is a very very quick time for the mods listed IMHO.
I have intake..exhaust..and practice lauching the car ..but I lauched the car just like above and cut a good RT and 60ft .I dont know if 20 to 30 more hp is going to slice off more than a tenth or two from my 13.8...Unless your TCM control is really waking up the tranny ..and shifting....I am being optomistic and hope this is the general case. Awesome run..I hope I can see many other repeat this!

Hey GRRRR8: Did you use sport shift? If you did, did you keep it in 3rd gear to finish?
I noticed now with the Roto CAI & VMS tune, if you leave it in sport shift the 3 to 4 shift happens at 104mph. If you manually keep it in 3rd gear, it can stay in 3rd until 107mph.

GRRRR8 06-20-2008, 08:05 PM Ok I can see the doubters have come out to play and I understand. For the benefit of the people that actually build fast cars and have fast cars, here is how I did it. 51psi frt tire pressure = less rolling resistance. 4 gallons 93 octane= saves approx 100lbs=1/10. Let car cool with fans and generator to 130 degress. Less heat=more power. No burn out, 140 treadwear tires are only going to get greasier when hot. Drive around the water box and drop hopped it to clean tires off. At the launch the engine temp was 161 degrees.Sport mode hold 3rd in M3. Every .10 in the 1st 60ft is .15 on the big end. So any REAL racer can see that just this would make me about .4-.6 faster then the same car that wasnt equally prepared. Not to mention that I made a panel to stop engine air from entering Roto-fab, or the half dollar sizes hole in the lower plastic panel that is now opened to optimize volume. I hope this helps, but there will be a video and feature article soon. Charlie
Mike P 06-20-2008, 08:14 PM Thanks for the recipe for success! I need headers, the HSRK, under drive pulley and most importantly, a great 60' time!
Also, thanks for the heads up on the front tire pressure (less rolling resistance). Were your rear tire pressures set at about 20-25?
Thanks again! And congrats!

G35TOG8 06-20-2008, 08:33 PM Nice times!! What were the track conditions (prep, temp or DA)? I know the tracks here in so cal are crappy due to the high DA and temps.
I know that track conditions also plays a role in your times.
If you guys want to find Density Altitude go to this site. http://www.modulardepot.com/density2.php
Here is site to find out the temp and humidity on the day you raced.

I'm happy to know that this is 13-12 sec car with the right mods. I put the same mods on my G35 and I barely broke into the 13's in Cali.
Do you have any pics of this panel that you made for the intake?
h3llphyre 06-20-2008, 08:50 PM Someone just ran 13.4@104 with a completely bone stock G8. I don't think his times are that far off to be honest. Look at his mod list. Plus, an underdrive pulley is worth WAY more then you guys think. It ain't about what the dyno shows. Dynos are for tuning, 1/4 mile tracks are to show how fast the car is.
GRRRR8 06-20-2008, 08:54 PM THANK YOU!!! I thought I was the only 1 that saw bone stock 13.40/.50 cars. I guess alot of time and $$$ cant possibly pick-up a mere 8 tenths.
wreckwriter 06-20-2008, 09:10 PM sure wish someone would give more info on installing the pulley....
GeorgeInNePa 06-20-2008, 11:03 PM ...
Mike @ New Era 06-20-2008, 11:58 PM Nice times man , congrats !
ludicristss 06-21-2008, 11:01 AM Time slips ? Pics? video ?

No, I'm here and I really exsist. :)
JAWDRPNG8 06-21-2008, 05:01 PM Like the front tire pressure idea...I was going to try that.I didnt know how high you should go....this is a redundent question but what was the rear pressure at?
WOuld a 150 lb lighter driver (my gf) have a chance at knocking off like ..um i duno .15 seconds lol. whats the rule a tenth for every 100 lbs or sumthing general like that..? HEY im looking at EVERY option thats free :)

I don't know if that's true. I'm 215 pounds. Then again, I did just have a baby. :P :slap:

Congrat's! I was wondering the same thing if my weight had a negative effect on my cars performance. (245 lbs.) Wish my mom drag raced.......ROFL :ohsnap1:
JTSnooks 06-22-2008, 11:06 AM That's a ridiculously fast time, congratulations! Sounds like you had excellent track prep, a 1.9 60' on stock tires is pretty amazing, good job.
Got 8? 06-22-2008, 11:57 AM I don't know if you can do it on these cars but I use to run a "short belt" on my truck and got a couple more tenths knocked off the time...
JAWDRPNG8 06-23-2008, 11:46 AM I hope to follow this forumula and get into the 12s...just a few paychecks and parts away from my vector Tune , powerbond pulley, and HSRK.....awesome run , we need more experinced people like GRRR8 tweaking on these to help all of us out...I am learning more and more each day..keep up the great real world testing and R/D us all!
Got 8? 06-23-2008, 02:54 PM If I could just get my hands on one I could join the R/D department, no one will call me back about an '09...and I'd hate to have to drive an hour and a half just to see that they don't have one...

Where are you located? I could search and see if any dealers local to you have 09s on thier lot!
Got 8? 06-23-2008, 03:11 PM 77904...but I called the dealer closest to me and they said " that one is still being made and they will call me back when they find out when its coming..."
VectorMotorsports 06-23-2008, 03:14 PM I dont see any within 300 miles YET but they should be there anytime. I can check again later for you if you'd like.
Got 8? 06-23-2008, 03:26 PM are you going on Pontiacs vehicle locater site??? I see 50 out there but don't actually know if they are "there" yet...
